      Advice: Arizona has clearly opted not to take any chances here and will shut Moreno down for at least the next couple days after he was lifted from Friday’s game against the Phillies with a left thumb sprain. The 24-year-old backstop doesn’t appear to be facing a lengthy absence since X-rays came back negative for any fractures, but the Diamondbacks can’t really afford to play shorthanded at catcher. However, it would be a significant loss for Arizona if he winds up requiring a trip to the injured list. The positive news here is that X-rays came back negative for any fractures after Moreno left Friday’s game against the Phillies with a left thumb sprain. He should be considered day-to-day for now.       Arozarena went 2-for-4 with a double Friday against the Pirates.

      Advice: Arozarena extended his hitting streak to seven games, two of which have been multi-hit efforts. He's hitting .391 in that span while tallying two homers, six RBI, five runs scored and three stolen bases.     • Hammered by Atlanta
      Rodon (9-4) took the loss Friday as the Yankees fell 8-1 to Atlanta, surrendering eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out three.

      Advice: The Atlanta offense came to life at the wrong time for Rodon, as he got taken deep by Ozzie Albies, Austin Riley and Matt Olson before exiting the game after 93 pitches (56 strikes). The southpaw hadn't served up multiple homers in a start since May 2. After a run of seven straight quality starts, he's been tagged for 12 earned runs in 8.2 innings over his last two outings.       Advice: Gurriel exited the contest in the seventh inning with elbow soreness, though manager Torey Lovullo said after the game that he doesn't anticipate that Gurriel will require a stint on the injured list.       Diamondbacks’ skipper Torey Lovullo said after Friday’s game that he’s hopeful Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (elbow) will be able to avoid the injured list.

      Advice: Lovullo noted that the 30-year-old outfielder was sore after the game on Friday but that he did not require any imaging — at least at this time.       Diamondbacks’ manager Torey Lovullo told reporters after Friday’s game that X-rays came back negative for any structural damage on the injured thumb of catcher Gabriel Moreno.

      Advice: Lovullo is hopeful that Moreno will be able to avoid a stint on the injured list but noted that he’ll have to wait and see how he’s feeling on Saturday morning to make a full determination.
