      Advice: Paxton never found himself in any serious trouble throughout the contest, allowing only one extra-base hit as the Dodgers cruised to a shutout win. The veteran lefty threw 15 of 22 first pitches for strikes and produced 10 whiffs on the night en route to earning his fifth win of the campaign. Paxton has allowed one run or fewer in back-to-back starts and in four of his seven outings this season. Saturday also marked his first start this season in which he didn't issue a walk.       James Paxton fired six shutout innings on Saturday in a win over the Padres.

      Advice: Paxton continues to excel in his Los Angeles debut, reeling off six scoreless frames to stun the division-rival Padres at Petco Park. He finished with four strikeouts, didn’t hand out a free pass, and allowed just six batted balls with an exit velocity in excess of 95 mph. The 35-year-old veteran southpaw has managed to stay healthy so far, and has been an impact fantasy contributor, despite a steep decline in strikeout percentage. He’s overdue for some regression in the run-prevention department, but he’s been effective so far. He’ll bring a sparkling 2.58 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 22/24 K/BB ratio across 38 1/3 innings (seven starts) into a home outing on Thursday against the Reds. Rotoworld Sunday, 4:05 am
       
    • Nick Lodolo serves up grand slam in loss to Giants
      Nick Lodolo surrendered four runs over six innings on Saturday in a loss to the Giants.

      Advice: Astonishingly, all of the damage against Lodolo came in the opening frame when the Giants struck for four runs, courtesy of a two-out grand slam from Matt Chapman, following a pair of hits and a walk. The 26-year-old southpaw settled in afterwards, keeping San Francisco off the scoreboard over his final five frames of work, but it wasn’t enough to take him off the hook for a loss. He finished with six strikeouts and only issued one walk, generating 13 swinging strikes and finishing with a respectable 33 percent CSW. He’ll bring a solid 3.34 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 43/9 K/BB ratio a cross 35 innings (six starts) into a tough road tilt on Thursday against a loaded Dodgers lineup. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:16 am

      Lodolo (3-2) took the loss Saturday versus the Giants, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six over six innings.

      Advice: His line is deceptive -- Lodolo permitted all four runs in the first inning on a Matt Chapman grand slam. He also gave up two hits in the fourth, but Lodolo escaped that rough patch with no further damage. The southpaw started the season with just five runs allowed over his first four starts, but he's been tagged for four runs in each of his last two outings. He's now at a 3.34 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 43:9 K:BB through 35 innings over six starts this season.       Advice: It’s a positive development for Musgrove that he’s resumed throwing already after landing on the injured list back on May 5 with triceps tendinitis. The 31-year-old righty is likely going to need a couple weeks to ramp up his throwing program, but it doesn’t sound like he’s facing a lengthy absence.       Musgrove (elbow) played catch Friday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

      Advice: Friday marks the first time Musgrove has played catch since he landed on the injured list Sunday due to right elbow inflammation. The 31-year-old righty said everything looked good after receiving an MRI, and he still expects to return from the injured list when eligible next Friday.       Rodon (3-2) earned the win over Houston on Wednesday, allowing two runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings.

      Advice: Rodon gave up six earned runs over four frames versus the Orioles in his worst start of the campaign his last time out, but he bounced back with a strong showing Wednesday. The left-hander racked up 16 swinging strikes against the Astros, leading to his second-highest single-game strikeout total of the season. While Rodon's season ERA sits at a mediocre 3.56, that's largely due to the blowup outing against Baltimore.       Carlos Rodón allowed two runs with seven strikeouts across 6 1/3 innings in a win over the Astros on Wednesday.

      Advice: Rodón served up a solo homer to Kyle Tucker in the first inning. He settled in nicely, tossing five more scoreless frames. Rodón went back out for the seventh gave up a run on two hits before his day was done with one out in the frame. He struck out seven on an impressive 16 whiffs. It was a nice bounceback effort for the 31-year-old left-hander. He’ll take a 3.56 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a 43/14 K/BB ratio across 43 innings into a start against the Twins in Minnesota on Tuesday.
