    • Yu Darvish leaves start with hamstring tightness
Yu Darvish was pulled from Wednesday’s start against the Marlins after just three innings due to tightness in his left hamstring.

Advice: Before exiting, the 37-year-old hurler had given up three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk. He’ll head for further evaluation to determine the severity of the injury, but you’d have to think that his next start — at a minimum — are in jeopardy at this point. • Dealing with hamstring tightness
Darvish was removed from his start Wednesday against the Marlins due to left hamstring tightness, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Darvish was pulled after three innings Wednesday, during which he allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out two batters. Manager Mike Shildt said the right-hander is undergoing imaging, and the Padres should offer an update on his status once the results come back. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 4:21 pm

    • Hangs on for 18th save
Helsley earned the save in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Reds, allowing a run on a hit and two walks in the ninth inning.

Advice: Protecting a three-run lead in the ninth, Helsley allowed the first two batters to reach. He'd allow a run on a Tyler Stephenson sacrifice fly before ultimately getting Elly De La Cruz to ground out with the tying runs on base. Helsley has now converted 18 straight save chances despite allowing at least one run in his last three appearances. Overall, the 29-year-old right-hander sports a 2.52 ERA with a 1.16 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB over 25 innings this season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 2:28 pm

    • Ryan Helsley again gives up run, earns save
Ryan Helsley notched his 18th save after giving up a run in the ninth Wednesday against the Reds.

Advice: Helsley has bent but not broke these last three appearances, giving up a total of four ninth-inning runs while still converting the save opportunity each time. His ERA has doubled from 1.23 to 2.52, but he’s 18-for-19 on the year. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:40 pm

    • Falls to 2-3
Lynn (2-3) allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks over six innings Monday, striking out five and taking a loss against the Reds.

Advice: All three runs against Lynn came in the first two innings but he was able to settle in to deliver a quality start. He's thrown six frames in each of his last two outings after failing to do so in his previous five starts. The veteran righty is 1-3 with a 4.39 ERA over his last five appearances. On the year, Lynn owns a 53:23 K:BB and a 3.45 ERA through 57.1 innings. His next start is expected to be in Philadelphia. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:39 pm

    • Lance Lynn delivers quality start in defeat
Lance Lynn yielded three runs — one earned — in six innings Monday in a loss to the Reds.

Advice: Lynn has lowered his ERA from 4.17 to 3.45 in his last two outings, partly because of some unearned runs. Unfortunately, simply keeping the Cardinals in games isn’t enough to generate wins right now, and Lynn is 2-3 in spite of a solid open. Rotoworld Monday, 6:00 pm

    • Picks up another shaky save
Helsley allowed a run on three hits in one inning but earned the save in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Cubs. He struck out a batter in the outing.

Advice: Helsley ran into trouble against the Cubs for the second consecutive night and was still able to escape with a save. He allowed a leadoff home run to Ian Happ and then gave up back-to-back two-out singles before getting Seiya Suzuki to end things with a fly out. That's now seven hits and three runs given up by Helsley over his last two appearances, though both still turned into saves. He's tied with Emmanuel Clase atop baseball with 17 saves and still owns excellent overall numbers with a 2.25 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 25:4 K:BB in 24 innings. Rotowire.com Monday, 5:43 am

    • Blanks Cubs over five
Gray (7-2) got the win over the Cubs on Sunday, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and walking two. He struck out eight.

Advice: Gray was as sharp as ever, needing 74 pitches to cruise through five innings of work. The 34-year-old registered an impressive 14 whiffs on the night, and the sweeper was his put-away pitch, accounting for eight of the 14 whiffs. Gray is now fourth in the majors with seven wins and has seven starts allowing two runs or less. Gray will carry a 2.60 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 67:12 K:BB into a tough road matchup against the Phillies this weekend. Rotowire.com Monday, 5:38 am

    • Ryan Helsley serves up homer, still records save
Ryan Helsley served up a solo homer to Ian Happ in the ninth inning on Sunday night, but still managed to escape with the lead intact and earn his 17th save of the season.

Advice: After giving up a leadoff blast to Happ that trimmed the Cardinals’ lead to one run, he then retired Dansby Swanson on a line drive to third base and struck out Michael Busch. He then allowed a pair of two-out singles to Nick Madrigal and Mike Tauchman before getting Seiya Suzuki on a line drive to center to end it. The Cardinals’ stopper has now converted 17 of his first 18 save chances on the season while producing a stellar 2.25 ERA. Rotoworld Sunday, 9:20 pm
