      Advice: As expected, Buehler will toe the rubber Monday evening in his first MLB action since undergoing Tommy John surgery in August 2022. He cruised through five innings April 30 during his final rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City, surrendering one run while fanning five batters, but even so, expect the club to keep a close eye on the right-hander's pitch count in the series opener.       Dodgers activated RHP Waker Buehler off the 15-day injured list.

      Advice: Buehler will get a chance to make his first start in 20 months after recovering from Tommy John surgery. The right-hander was up to 75 pitches in rehab starts, and he should be able to work the necessary five innings to qualify for a potential win.       Cortes did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk over 6.1 innings against the Tigers. He struck out nine.

      Advice: Cortes matched a season high with nine strikeouts, as he allowed only four baserunners in the contest. Cortes shut out the Tigers through six but was pulled with one out in the seventh after allowing two base hits in the inning. Both runners eventually came around to score, tying the game and ending Cortes' bid to earn his second win. It was the fourth quality start in eight games for Cortes, who lowered his ERA to 3.72 with a 1.03 WHIP and 46 strikeouts through 48.1 innings.       Nestor Cortes looked sharp in a no-decision against the Tigers on Sunday, giving up two runs on just three hits over 6 1/3 innings of work.

      Advice: The crafty 29-year-old southpaw piled up nine strikeouts on a rainy afternoon in the Bronx while allowing just one base on balls. He kept the Tigers off the board completely through the first six innings, but he allowed a pair of singles before departing in the seventh — and both runners came around to score against the Yankees’ bullpen. Cortes got 13 whiffs on 97 pitches on the day, registering a strong CSW of 33 percent. He’ll attempt to get back in the win column as he carries a 3.72 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 46/8 K/BB ratio (48 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Rays in Tampa Bay.       Senga (shoulder) completed a 32-pitch live batting practice session Saturday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

      Advice: Facing hitters in extended live BP session marks a major milestone in Senga's recovery from a right posterior shoulder capsule strain, which caused him to miss most of spring training and resulted in him opening the season on the 15-day injured list before he was shifted to the 60-day IL on April 10. He won't be eligible to make his season debut until May 27, but Senga appears on target to return on or around that date based on where he currently stands in his recovery. The Mets will see how he bounces back from Saturday's throwing session over the next couple of days before deciding whether he's ready to report to a minor-league affiliate to begin a rehab assignment, or if he'll need to throw another live BP before doing so.       Kodai Senga (shoulder) threw 32 pitches in his live bullpen session Saturday.

      Advice: Senga has now faced live hitters twice this week. The Mets will now determine the next steps for the right-hander in the coming days, as they want to see how he responds before deciding when he’ll begin a rehab assignment. There’s a very good chance he does begin that assignment at this point, however, and he’s on track to make his return around May 27 — the earliest Senga can be activated off the 60-day IL.       Kimbrel was pulled from a save situation in the ninth inning of Saturday's game against the Reds. He allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out one batter in one-third of an inning.

      Advice: The Cincinnati offense had been quiet all night until Kimbrel gave the home team some life in the bottom of the ninth. He allowed three of the four batters he faced to reach base, prompting the hook from manager Brandon Hyde. Yennier Cano took over and closed the door to earn his first save of the season. Kimbrel earned the save Friday in his return following a brief absence due to back tightness, but he had squandered back-to-back save chances before that and Saturday's slip-up puts him on notice with a high-end arm in Cano representing a viable alternative to Kimbrel in the ninth.       Bibee (2-1) took the loss Friday against the Angels after giving up six earned runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out four batters across five innings.

      Advice: Coming off an incredible seven-inning shutout performance against Atlanta in his last start, Bibee turned in one of his worst performances of the season against an injury-riddled Angels lineup. He gave up a solo homer to Nolan Schanuel in the third inning before allowing four more runs to score in the fifth, capped off by a three-run shot from Mickey Moniak.       Craig Kimbrel returned to action and earned a save on Friday, striking out all three batters he faced versus the Reds.
