    • Allows one hit in seven frames
Cease (5-2) picked up the win Wednesday against the Cubs, allowing one hit and two walks over seven scoreless innings. He struck out 12.

Advice: Cease fell one K shy of his career high in strikeouts and only allowed four total baserunners -- an infield single, two walks and a hit-by-pitch -- en route to his fifth win of his last six starts. He's been making a case for the AL Cy Young in his first season with the Padres, earning a 2.19 ERA and a 0.75 WHIP with 60 strikeouts over 49.1 innings pitched. Cease will look to add to his already impressive 2024 resume in a projected home start Tuesday against the Rockies. Rotowire.com Today, 7:57 pm

    • Arcia posts two hits, home run against Red Sox
Orlando Arcia went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Wednesday’s victory over the Red Sox.

Advice: The home run was Arcia’s third of the campaign, and he’s now up to a .270 average. Last season, he hit .264 with 17 home runs, 65 RBI and 66 runs scored, and he’s basically on pace to replicate those numbers. Arcia’s not going to steal bases and he’s nothing spectacular at the plate, but he derives some value from playing every day for one of the best lineups in baseball. Rotoworld Today, 7:02 pm

    • Sale dominates former team Wednesday
Chris Sale was utterly dominant with six shutout innings and 10 strikeouts and picked up the win in the 5-0 victory over the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Sale lowered his ERA on the season to 2.95 with the excellent outing. He certainly showed the Red Sox what they’re missing after trading him last offseason. The win was Sale’s fifth in seven starts this season. His 52 strikeouts are in the top 10 among qualified starting pitchers. Sale is set to take on the Chicago Cubs at home next week. • Dylan Cease hurls 12-strikeout gem versus Cubs
Dylan Cease recorded a season-high 12 strikeouts over seven shutout innings on Wednesday in a win over the Cubs.

Advice: Cease was simply magnificent during Wednesday afternoon’s matinee at Wrigley Field, inducing a surreal 24 swinging strikes, including 12 on his slider alone, and finished with an elite 39 percent CSW. He limited Chicago’s formidable offense to just three baserunners, one hit and a pair of walks, over seven nearly-flawless frames. His 12 strikeouts were just one shy of his previous career-high mark set back on June 26, 2022. The 28-year-old fantasy ace has been outstanding in his San Diego debut, allowing two earned runs or fewer in seven of his eight starts. He’ll bring a stellar 2.19 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 60/16 K/BB ratio across 49 1/3 innings (eight starts) into a tasty home matchup on Tuesday against the Rockies at Petco Park. • Placed on IL
The Rays placed Pepiot on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a left lower leg contusion.

Advice: The transaction is retroactive to Monday, so Pepiot could be activated as soon as May 21 if he makes a speedy recovery from the leg injury, which he suffered when he was hit by a line drive in Sunday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Mets. Taj Bradley (pectoral) was reinstated from the 15-day IL in a corresponding move and will be plugged into Pepiot's spot in the rotation beginning with Friday's game against the Yankees. • Rays place Ryan Pepiot (leg) on 15-day IL
Rays placed RHP Ryan Pepiot on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 6, with a left lower leg contusion.

Advice: Taj Bradley was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move and will make his 2024 regular season debut on Friday against the Yankees. Fortunately for fantasy managers, Pepiot should only need a minimum stint on the injured list and should be ready to jump right back into the Rays’ rotation when that time comes. • Launches first homer of 2024
Kelenic went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: His third-inning shot off Kutter Crawford got Atlanta on the board, and gave Kelenic his first long ball of the season. Despite the lack of power, the 24-year-old has generally been hitting well in his strong-side platoon role, slashing .280/.333/.373 in 81 plate appearances. Only one of those PAs has come against a southpaw, but with Adam Duvall scuffling so far (.220/.310/.380 in 58 PAs), Kelenic might get more opportunities against same-handed pitching if he heats up. • Battles control in no-decision
Lopez came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Red Sox, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and four walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: The four free passes were a season high for Lopez, who tossed 54 of 91 pitches for strikes before exiting. The right-hander has failed to last six innings in either of his last two outings after beginning the season with four straight quality starts, but he still sports a 1.53 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 36:14 K:BB through 35.1 innings. He'll look to tighten things up in his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Cubs. Rotowire.com Today, 8:28 am

    • Likely to be placed on IL
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Tuesday that the Rays are "likely" to place Pepiot on the 15-day injured list after the right-hander took a 107.5 mile-per-hour line drive off his left leg in Sunday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Mets, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: He'll likely be replaced in the Tampa Bay rotation by Taj Bradley (pectoral), who is on track to return from the IL to start this weekend against the Yankees. Pepiot isn't dealing with any structural damage to his leg after both an X-ray and CT scan came back negative, so he could be ready to return from the IL in the minimum 15 days once any lingering pain and soreness subsides. Over his seven starts this season, Pepiot has gone 3-2 with a 3.68 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 41:11 K:BB across 36.2 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 6:29 am
