    • Orlando Arcia still out Thursday with tooth issue
Orlando Arcia (tooth) remains out of the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Giants.

Advice: Arcia hasn’t played since last weekend and underwent a dental procedure earlier this week to address an abscessed tooth. The 29-year-old shortstop figures to be ready to return at some point in the coming days. Rotoworld Today, 1:36 pm

    • Jonathan India picks up three hits, homer in win
Jonathan India scored three runs while going 3-for-5 with a homer in a victory Thursday over the Yankees.

Advice: India doubled the Reds’ lead to 2-0 with a solo blast in the third inning off an ineffective Marcus Stroman. He also singled twice while improving his average to .278 with a .383 on-base percentage. India has been the subject of trade rumors for seemingly forever, but for now, he’s a solid fantasy option at the top of the Cincinnati lineup. Rotoworld Today, 1:12 pm

    • Sitting again Thursday
Arcia (tooth) isn't in Atlanta's lineup for Thursday's game versus the Giants.

Advice: Arcia will miss a third straight game Thursday as he continues to deal with an abscessed tooth. Zack Short will pick up another start at shortstop as a result and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Today, 1:07 pm

    • Mike Trout has begun hitting off a tee
Angels manager Ron Washington said that Mike Trout “has begun running on a treadmill and hitting off a tee.”

Advice: It would be very impressive to do those at the same time, but we’ll assume Trout is separating those activities. Still, it’s nice to see the 32-year-old making progress in his return from knee surgery. It was reported that Trout was running on a treadmill back in May, but taking swings has been a new development. The veteran says he wants to return before the end of July, so he may begin a rehab stint after the All-Star break if he continues to progress. Of course, the Angels have absolutely no need to rush him back this season. Rotoworld Today, 12:33 pm

    • Xander Bogaerts starts rehab assignent Thursday
Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment on Thursday with Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: The veteran shortstop has been sidelined since May 20th with a fractured left shoulder. The team originally claimed his absence would be two months, which would be almost exactly after the All-Star break. Considering Bogaerts will need a few rehab appearances to get his timing back, the Padres could wait until after the break to call him up, but there’s a chance we’d see him at the end of next week if all goes well. The 31-year-old has not been great this season even when healthy, hitting .219/.265/.316 in 47 games with four home runs and four steals. It’s fair to wonder how often Bogaerts will run when he comes back since head-first slides into second base could risk aggravating the shoulder injury. Given his modest power output, if his stolen base totals take a meaningful hit, he would likely be a middle infield option for deeper leagues but not a starting shortstop in shallower formats. • Runs on treadmill
Angels manager Ron Washington said Thursday that Trout (knee) has started running on a treadmill, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Advice: It's a big step in Trout's recovery as he works his way back from surgery on a torn meniscus in early May. He has also done some hitting on the field. Trout said this past weekend that he expected to return from the injured list by late July, although he certainly has some markers he needs to hit first before making that happen. • Charged with loss
Kittredge (1-4) allowed two runs (one earned) on a hit and a walk while striking out two over 1.1 innings to take the extra-inning loss Wednesday versus the Pirates.

Advice: Kittredge pitched the ninth inning, but he stumbled when tasked with working the 10th. He walked Andrew McCutchen, and then JoJo Romero gave up back-to-back RBI singles, sticking two runs on Kittredge's line in the walk-off loss. Over his last 10.2 innings, Kittredge has been tagged for nine runs (six earned) while posting a 7:4 K:BB. The rough patch hasn't cost him a high-leverage role, but it's made him a little more difficult to trust. For the year, he has a 3.35 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 35:12 K:BB with a save, 24 holds and four blown saves through 37.2 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 10:03 am
    • Lasts just four innings Wednesday
Pepiot (4-5) took the loss Wednesday against the Royals, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks in four innings. He did not strike out a batter.

Advice: Pepiot made it through the first two innings unscathed, but the Royals got to him for two runs in the third on a couple of hits. He made quick work in the fourth but was replaced after throwing 87 pitches. The Rays offense mustered up just two runs, leaving Pepiot in line for the loss. His last win came back on June 4 against Miami. Pepiot also never had fewer than two strikeouts in any MLB game, as a starter or reliever, before recording none Wednesday. It was another short start for the 26-year-old, who has failed to complete six frames in each of his last four starts. Pepiot will take a 4.40 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 83:28 K:BB (75.2 IP) into a start against the Yankees next week. Rotowire.com Today, 8:27 am

    • Opens scoring with homer
Machado went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Machado has picked up the pace in the power department with five homers over his last 12 contests. He's batting .354 (17-for-48) in that span while adding 14 RBI. The third baseman is up to .264/.314/.411 slash line with 11 homers, 47 RBI, 39 runs scored and five stolen bases over 82 contests. Considering he's exceeded 30 homers seven times in his career, it shouldn't be surprising if he has a big second half in 2024, though his slow start could prevent him from reaching that milestone this year.
