      Singer (3-2) took the loss against Seattle on Monday, allowing four runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out six batters over five innings.

      Advice: Singer came into Monday having allowed exactly one run in three straight starts, but he couldn't keep that momentum going. The right-hander yielded four runs across the second and third frames, marking just the second time this season he's given up that many runs over an entire game. Singer still has a strong 2.84 ERA and 1.11 WHIP through nine starts on the campaign, and he's tossed at least five frames in each of his outings thus far. Rotowire.com Monday, 11:28 pm

      Brady Singer was charged for four runs over five innings while picking up a loss Monday to the Mariners.

      Advice: Singer was in constant trouble Monday, as he allowed nine hits with one walk against six strikeouts. He gave up a long homer to Luke Raley in the second, and two more runs were surrendered by the right-hander in the third. Singer has been solid for the overwhelming majority of 2024, but this wasn’t his night. A good chance to rebound comes Sunday against the Athletics, assuming the rotation order doesn’t change.       Garrett pitched 5.1 innings, allowing five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight batters in Sunday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Phillies. He didn't factor into the decision.

      Advice: Garrett got off to a slow start in his season debut, giving up three runs in the top of the first inning on a homer by Nick Castellanos. He then tossed four scoreless frames before two more runs came around to score while he secured just one out in the top of the sixth frame. The left-hander did impress in the strikeout department though, punching out at least eight batters for the first time since June 22 of the 2023 campaign versus the Pirates.     • Braxton Garrett inconsistent in no decision on SUN
      Braxton Garrett allowed five runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Phillies on Sunday.

      Advice: Garrett allowed five hits but six hard-hit baseballs and an average exit velocity of 91.2 mph on the day. He was able to post a 22 percent whiff rate and eight strikeouts on the day, but weirdly was getting most of his swings and misses and called strikes on his sinker. Most of his other pitches were not as effective and he threw the sinker and slider a combined 80 percent of the time. He averaged just 89.7 mph on the sinker today and has an 8.44 ERA since coming off the IL. He’s a risky stream against the Mets next weekend given his subpar stuff this year.       Steele escaped with a no-decision in Saturday's 10-9 loss to the Pirates, surrendering six runs on six hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks over four innings. He struck out three.

      Advice: Making just his third start of the season after missing all of April with a hamstring strain, Steele served up homers to Connor Joe and Oneil Cruz in the third inning and Michael Taylor in the fourth, but he got taken off the hook for the loss thanks to a seven-run fifth by the Cubs. Steele has yet to complete five innings in an outing and threw just 74 pitches (53 strikes) Saturday, but he should begin to get stretched out more as he puts the injury further behind him. Steele will take a 4.73 ERA and 11:4 K:BB through 13.1 innings into his next start, which lines up to be a rematch with the Pirates back in Wrigley Field next week.       Javier (neck) dropped to 2-1 on the season in Saturday's 8-2 loss to the Tigers after allowing seven runs on five hits and four walks with no strikeouts over 1.1 innings.

      Advice: Javier was activated off the 15-day injured list Saturday to make his first start for the Astros since April 14, but the right-hander didn't look quite right in his return from a neck injury. In addition to getting knocked around for seven runs and throwing only 21 of 50 pitches for strikes, Javier's final two fastballs clocked in at 89.7 miles per hour and 90.2 miles per, well below his typical velocity. It's unclear whether his struggles Saturday are an indication that Javier isn't fully recovered from the neck issue or if he was simply rusty, but he's currently penciled in to make his next start at home against Oakland next Thursday.       Justin Steele didn’t factor into the decision Saturday while allowing six runs over four innings against the Pirates.

      Advice: Steele’s start was officially cut short because of a long rain delay, but it’s unlikely he was going to continue based on how well — or more accurately, not well — he was throwing. The southpaw allowed six hits and three walks with three strikeouts, and he allowed a Pittsburgh lineup that had been awful as of late to break through. These things happen.     • Cristian Javier demolished in return from IL
      Cristian Javier was absolutely demolished in his return from the injured list on Saturday, giving up seven runs on five hits and four walks in just 1 1/3 innings of work.

      Advice: Yikes. None of the four outs that Javier did record came via the strikeout. He pitched around a couple of baserunners in the opening inning, but the second inning wasn’t as forgiving. There, Mark Canha belted a grand slam and Kerry Carpenter added a two-run shot that chased Javier from the ballgame. He threw 50 pitches (21 for strikes), getting just two swings and misses while posting a CSW of only 16 percent. Perhaps fantasy managers should take a wait-and-see approach before putting him back into lineups. Javier will do battle against the Athletics his next time out at home on Thursday.       The Astros reinstated Javier (neck) from the 15-day injured list Saturday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Javier landed on the IL on April 21 due to neck discomfort. He made one rehab start with Double-A Corpus Christi on May 4, throwing 68 pitches while allowing three runs on three hits and two walks over 3.1 innings. To make room on the 40-man roster for Javier, Houston designated right-hander Brandon Bielak for assignment. Javier will start Saturday against the Tigers, though the Astros could limit his workload to ease the right-hander back into the rotation. Rotowire.com Saturday, 11:49 am
