The 31-year-old slugger, who crushed an RBI double off the base of the center-field wall in the opening frame against Marlins southpaw Trevor Rogers for his 1,000th career hit, will undergo additional testing to determine the severity of the injury.     • Sale strikes out 11 in hard-luck loss to former team
      Chris Sale struck out 11 over seven innings of one-run baseball, but picked up a loss Thursday as the White Sox beat Atlanta 1-0 in the first game of a doubleheader.

      Advice: Sale was facing his former team in the White Sox, and while he gets credited for the loss, it was a dominant effort for the 35-year-old. The only blemish came when he gave up a solo homer to Luis Robert Jr. in the first, and he allowed just three more hits while missing plenty of bats. It’s the third time Sale has picked up double-digit strikeouts — the 11 are a season high — and he’s now the owner of a 2.79 ERA and 118/17 K/BB over 15 starts. He gets the Giants next.
