      Keller (8-4) was charged with the loss after he allowed four runs on eight hits with four strikeouts over six innings Thursday against the Cardinals.

      Advice: Keller's four earned runs allowed tied a season high, but he still managed to extend a streak of seven straight starts of at least six innings. He gave up a homers to Paul Goldschmidt and Brendan Donovan, making it the first time this season he's allowed multiple long balls in a game.       Mitch Keller lost to the Cardinals after giving up four runs in six innings Thursday.

      Advice: Keller had gone five straight starts without allowing a homer and hadn’t yielded more than one in any outing this season, but both Paul Goldschmidt and Brendan Donovan left the yard against him today. The Oakland closer may be wearing down -- over his last eight appearances he's served up three long balls and been scored upon four times, leading to a 5.59 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB through 9.2 innings during that stretch.       Mason Miller allowed one run in the ninth inning on Wednesday and was saddled with a loss against the Padres.

      Advice: Miller was called upon in a tie ballgame and wound up surrendering a walk-off solo shot to Padres rookie Jackson Merrill. It was just his first loss of the year and second run he’s allowed in four relief appearances this month. The flame-throwing 25-year-old righty has been one of the best high-leverage relievers in baseball and this looks like just a momentary hiccup in an otherwise stellar breakthrough campaign.       Cole (elbow) will make a third rehab a start Friday with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Max Goodman of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

      Advice: The right-hander threw 57 pitches over 4.2 innings during his second rehab outing Sunday, and he'll move up to the Triple-A level as he continues building up his workload. Manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday, "we'll see" when asked if it will be Cole's final rehab start, so it's possible he's cleared to make his season debut for the Yankees next week.       Dylan Cease won for the first time in a month after holding the A’s to one run in six innings on Monday.

      Advice: Cease surrendered eight hits, but only Tyler Soderstrom’s homer in the second did any damage. He struck out eight and walked one in moving to 6-5 with a 3.36 ERA.       Cease (6-5) earned the win over Oakland on Monday, allowing one run on eight hits and one walk while striking out eight batters over six innings.

      Advice: Cease surrendered a solo homer to Tyler Soderstrom in the second inning, but that was the only run the A's managed to score against him. The right-handed hurler racked up 15 whiffs among his 104 pitches and gave up fewer than three runs for the first time since May 8. Cease entered Monday with a 5.86 ERA over his previous five starts, and he went 0-3 during that span.
