• Taking seat Wednesday
Rortvedt is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: The White Sox are bringing a right-hander (Chris Flexen) to the mound, but Flexen has been far more effective against lefties (.314 wOBA) than righties (.372 wOBA) for his career, which likely explains why the lefty-hitting Rortvedt is on the bench. Alex Jackson will fill in for Rortvedt behind the plate. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:58 pm

  • David Fry hits game-tying homer in ninth
David Fry hit a game-tying homer off Andrew Chafin in the ninth inning Wednesday against the Tigers.

Advice: Some curious bullpen management from the Tigers today got Fry a good matchup against a lefty in the ninth and he wound up with his second homer. This was actually a rare start against a righty for Fry, but he went 0-for-3 against them. The homer off Chafin made him 10-for-24 with four extra-base hits, 10 walks and two HBPs versus lefties this season. That’s a ridiculous .595 OBP. Unfortunately, an expanded role for Fry seems even less likely now that Kyle Manzardo is up. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:37 pm

  • Resting Wednesday
Lee is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Advice: He'll bow out of the starting nine for the series finale in what amounts to a maintenance day after he worked behind the plate both of the previous two days. Martin Maldonado will replace Lee as the White Sox's starting catcher. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:15 pm

  • Sits out Wednesday
Jeffers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: He'll be given a breather while Christian Vazquez starts behind the plate. Jeffers has been an excellent No. 1 fantasy catcher for his managers this season, hitting .299 with seven home runs and 26 RBI. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 12:39 pm

  • Set for primary catching role
Herrera will serve as the Cardinals' designated hitter and cleanup batter in Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Advice: Though he'll be included in the lineup in a non-defensive role Wednesday, Herrera is expected to serve as the Cardinals' primary backstop for the foreseeable future after Willson Contreras was placed on the 10-day injured list with a fractured forearm, an injury that will likely keep him out for 6-to-8 weeks. Pedro Pages was called up from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move and will start behind the plate Wednesday, but Herrera should see the bulk of the work at catcher while Contreras is on the shelf. Herrera has logged 76 plate appearances so far this season, hitting .232 with three home runs, 11 RBI and seven runs. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:20 am
  • Sent to IL with forearm fracture
The Cardinals placed Contreras on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Advice: Contreras fractured his left forearm when he was struck by J.D. Martinez's bat on a catcher's interference call during Tuesday's 7-5 loss. He will undergo surgery Wednesday to repair the fracture and is expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks. Ivan Herrera will be the Cardinals' primary catcher while Contreras is out, while Pedro Pages has been recalled from Triple-A Memphis to take Contreras' roster spot and serve as the team's No. 2 backstop. • Cardinals place Willson Contreras on 10-day IL
Cardinals placed Willson Contreras on the 10-day injured list with a left arm fracture.

Advice: Contreras will need more than the minimum 10 days as the 31-year-old backstop suffered a broken left forearm during Tuesday’s game against the Mets. Contreras was struck by a swing from J.D Martinez that collided with the middle of the forearm and carried through to his wrist. He’ll have to undergo surgery and is expected to miss at least six to eight weeks. In the meantime, Iván Herrera and Pedro Pagés will handle catching duties while Contreras is sidelined. • Absent from lineup
Naylor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's tilt versus the Tigers.

Advice: Naylor had started each of the previous six contests but will take a seat for Wednesday's afternoon game. Austin Hedges will serve as the Guardians' starting catcher. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:22 am

  • Launches homer in loss
Stephenson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Stephenson's ninth-inning home run was way too late for the Reds, who logged just three hits and lost their sixth consecutive contest. Cincinnati's middle-of-the-order bats have not produced of late, which has prompted manager David Bell to move Stephenson to cleanup in the three starts since he returned from a hand injury last week.
