• Josh Smith returns to lineup Tuesday vs. Mets
Josh Smith is back in the lineup for Tuesday’s contest against the Mets.

Advice: Smith is back at designated hitter for Tuesday’s contest against the Mets after missing four straight games due to general soreness. It could be a few additional days before he’s ready to get back onto the field defensively, but it’s an encouraging development that the Rangers are able to get his bat back into the lineup. The 26-year-old infielder has been excellent this year, batting .294/.384/.436 with four homers and four steals across 243 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 1:05 pm

  • Back in lineup
Smith (hamstring) is batting third as the designated hitter Tuesday against the Mets.

Advice: Smith missed four straight games with tightness in his upper hamstring but will rejoin the lineup Tuesday. While he's healthy enough to play, the Rangers are opting to ease Smith into action in a non-defensive capacity, giving him his first start at DH this season. Rotowire.com Today, 1:04 pm

  • Making first-ever start at third
Crawford (hamstring) will start at third base and bat eighth in Tuesday's game in Miami.

Advice: It's the first time in Crawford's 14-year major-league career that he's played a position other than shortstop. Crawford had to leave his last game on Sunday versus the Cubs with a left hamstring cramp, but he's ready to roll now. Rotowire.com Today, 12:41 pm
  • Three hits in Monday's loss
Clement went 3-for-4 in Monday's loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Getting the nod at third base and batting eighth, the utility infielder out together his fourth straight multi-hit performance in a starting role. Clement's gone 9-for-13 over that blistering stretch with three doubles, a homer, two RBI and three runs as he takes advantage of Bo Bichette's absence to due to a calf issue. Even when Bichette is cleared to return, Clement's hot streak will likely keep him in the starting lineup for a Blue Jays squad scrambling to find offense wherever it can. Rotowire.com Today, 7:32 am

  • Will be out beyond minimum 10 days
Baez (spine) is without a precise timeline to return from the injured list, but the Tigers are preparing for him to miss more than the minimum 10 days, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Baez's stint on the IL is retroactive to June 9, making him eligible for activation at any point after Tuesday. However, the Tigers don't seem eager to rush Baez back from lumbar spine inflammation, especially after the shortstop had dealt with back pain for much of last season. Baez visited a doctor in Florida this past weekend and received an injection in his back to alleviate the inflammation, and the shot appears to have taken the desired effect since he began participating in light hitting drills Tuesday, per Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press. Zach McKinstry and Ryan Kreidler have formed a platoon at shortstop since Baez went on the shelf. Rotowire.com Today, 7:28 am

  • Rengifo comes off bench day after wrist injury
Luis Rengifo came off the bench and struck out as a pinch-hitter Monday against the Brewers.

Advice: He then remained in to play two innings at third base. Rengifo didn’t start because of a wrist injury suffered Sunday, but it seems like he’ll be fine. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:01 pm

  • Smacks go-ahead homer in extras
Winn went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run and a pair of runs scored in Monday's 7-6 win over the Marlins.

Advice: Winn took A.J. Puk deep in the top of the 12th to give St. Louis a two-run lead, which was the difference in the game as Miami tallied a run in the bottom of the frame. The shortstop has settled in nicely atop the Cardinals lineup, where he's batted in his past 11 appearances and 18 times overall this season. The counting stats are lagging a tad with only four home runs, 25 runs and 26 RBI through 65 contests, but the 22-year-old's .295/.339/.429 slash line is impressive. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:35 pm

  • Masyn Winn slugs go-ahead homer against Marlins
Masyn Winn clobbered a go-ahead two-run homer in the 12th inning on Monday, lifting the Cardinals to a 7-6 extra-inning victory over the Marlins.

Advice: Leading off for the sixth straight game, Winn came through with a clutch extra-inning blast off Marlins reliever A.J. Puk to put the Cardinals ahead for good in a back-and-forth affair at loanDepot park. It was his fourth long ball of the season and first time he’s left the yard since June 4. • Rafaela has two hits, home run in win Monday
Ceddanne Rafaela went 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and a solo home run against the Blue Jays on Monday.

Advice: Rafaela’s home run was his eighth of the season. Despite hitting ninth regularly, he’s up to 40 RBI on the season, which leads the team. Rafaela’s only hitting .243, but his counting numbers show he’s been a very productive player this year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:18 pm
