    • Slugs 12th homer
Alonso went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 8-7 loss to the Giants.

Advice: Another bullpen meltdown wasted a big night from the Mets' offense, as Alonso's seven-inning solo shot off Nick Avila was New York's third homer of the game. The first baseman extended his hitting streak to nine games, and over the last 15 contests Alonso is slashing .313/.362/.609 with four of his 12 homers on the season and 10 of his 26 RBI. • Michael Busch goes 0-for-4 in loss to Braves
Michael Busch went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts on Thursday in the Cubs’ shutout loss at the hands of the Braves.

Advice: Busch is really struggling at the moment, batting .183 (17-for-93) with just one home run over his last 30 games. He’s gone especially frigid at the dish, hitting just .071 (1-for-14) over his past seven contests. The league seems to have made its adjustment to the 26-year-old top prospect and now it’s time for him to strike back. It wouldn’t be shocking to see him get a break in the coming days as a bit of a mental reset. Rotoworld Thursday, 2:52 pm

    • Homers in loss
Alonso went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Alonso opened the scoring in the first inning, sending a fastball from Triston McKenzie into the right-field seats for his 11th homer of the year. The 29-year-old Alonso has put together an eight-game hitting streak while going 18-for-59 (.305) with three homers and a .936 OPS in his last 14 contests. He's now slashing .236/.313/.466 with 24 RBI and 28 runs scored through 214 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:28 am

    • Christian Walker homers in win over Dodgers
Christian Walker went 2-for-4 with a solo homer, a double, and two runs scored on Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Walker led off the sixth inning with a solo homer off Elieser Hernández to extend the Diamondbacks’ lead. He later doubled in the eighth and scored on a passed ball. The 33-year-old first baseman is pacing right in line with his 2023 season, hitting .257/.358/.458 with 10 homers and 32 RBI across 215 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 10:02 pm

    • Sitting against southpaw
Busch is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

Advice: With a tough southpaw in Max Fried on the mound for Atlanta, the lefty-hitting Busch will retreat to the bench. Patrick Wisdom will replace Busch at first base. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:43 pm

    • Goes deep in win
Walker went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Walker led off the top of the sixth inning with a solo homer. The blast was Walker's ninth and tied him for the team lead with Ketel Marte. May has not been kind to Walker, who is batting .194 with a .606 OPS through 18 games, but he continues to lead the Diamondbacks with 31 RBI. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:44 am

    • Report: Mets offered Pete Alonso $158M extension
The New York Post’s Joel Sherman reports the Mets offered first baseman Pete Alonso a seven-year, $158 million contract extension last summer.

Advice: Sherman adds that “the sides never got close to a deal.” The 29-year-old impending free agent could still wind up back in New York, but at this point it sounds like he’s going to test the free agent waters to see what other offers might be out there. • Idle versus lefty
Busch isn't in the Cubs' lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: With lefty Bailey Falter set to start on the mound for the Bucs, the left-handed bat of Busch will remain in Chicago's dugout. His absence will give Patrick Wisdom an opportunity to start at first while batting leadoff. Rotowire.com Saturday, 10:00 am

    • Swats solo homer
Alonso went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run during Thursday's 6-5 win over the Phillies in extra innings.

Advice: Alonso tagged Taijuan Walker (foot) for a solo shot in the first inning, putting the first baseman at 10 homers this season. He's now tied for the fourth-most home runs in the NL and owns a .772 OPS with 23 RBI and 27 runs through 164 at-bats. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:48 pm
