    • Zac Gallen to throw simulated game on Tuesday
Diamondbacks’ manager Torey Lovullo told reporters on Friday that right-hander Zac Gallen (hamstring) will pitch in a simulated game on Tuesday.

Advice: The 28-year-old hurler is slated for three innings or around 45 pitches in the session. After that, he’ll likely need another simulated game — or perhaps a minor league rehab start — before he’s ready to return to the Diamondbacks’ rotation. Gallen has been sidelined since the end of May due to a right hamstring strain. Rotoworld Friday, 3:27 pm

    • Fans eight over six frames
Pfaadt (3-5) earned the win over the Angels on Thursday, allowing one run on six hits and three walks over six innings while striking out eight.

Advice: Pfaadt allowed the leadoff man to reach base in two of his first three innings, but escaped unscathed via double plays on each occasion. He would then surrender an RBI single to Mickey Moniak in the fourth before going on to log his seventh quality start of the campaign. The right-hander has allowed two or fewer runs in three of his last six outings, going 2-2 over that stretch. Pfaadt's also recorded at least seven strikeouts in four of his last six starts. • Brandon Pfaadt strikes out eight, allows one run
Brandon Pfaadt struck out eight while limiting the Angels to one run in six innings to get a win Thursday.

Advice: Pfaadt did have some control issues with three walks and 62-of-108 pitches landing for strikes, but he was able to work out of jams thanks to the punchouts. It’s a much improved effort from last weekend when he gave up nine hits and five runs against San Diego. Pfaadt has shown almost zero consistency in his MLB career — at least not in a positive way — but the stuff is here for him to be a successful fantasy option. His next chance for quality results comes next week against the Nats. Rotoworld Thursday, 10:14 pm
    • Works 4.2 innings
Miller (shoulder) allowed five earned runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four across 4.2 innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday.

Advice: This was likely Miller's final rebab appearance before being activated from the injured list. While the surface stats weren't strong, his fastball was measured between 96 and 99 mph, and he threw 51 of 93 pitches for strikes. If the Dodgers elect to keep him on five days rest and bring him back to the big-league roster, Miller would make his return at Coors Field on Tuesday. Rotowire.com Thursday, 9:33 pm

    • Bobby Miller struggles in final rehab tune-up
Bobby Miller (shoulder) surrendered five runs over 4 2/3 innings on Thursday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: Miller struck out four, issued three walks, and threw 93 pitches (51 strikes) in his fourth and likely final rehab start as he completes his lengthy rehabilitation process from a right shoulder injury. The positive news here is that he averaged 97.4 mph on his four-seam fastball. Unfortunately, he got hit pretty hard and struggled to find the strike zone in this one. He’s likely to rejoin Los Angeles’ starting rotation mix at some point next week. Rotoworld Thursday, 7:06 pm

    • Bumped back to Friday
Castillo's next start has been pushed back a day to Friday against the Rangers, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Advice: The Mariners have just one off day over the next two weeks and one member of their rotation, Bryan Woo (forearm), who is banged up, so the team will use this as an opportunity to give their regular starters some rest. Emerson Hancock will draw the start Thursday versus the White Sox while everyone else gets bumped back. Rotowire.com Thursday, 11:18 am
    • Blanks Cardinals
Skenes didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against St. Louis, allowing five hits and no walks across 6.1 scoreless innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Skenes was locked into a pitchers' duel with Miles Mikolas, as the first run of the game didn't come across until the ninth inning, leaving both starters with no-decisions. Individually, Skenes was excellent once again, punching out seven or more batters for the fifth time in six starts while issuing no walks for the first time all year. Through 33.1 innings, Skenes has struck out 46 batters and owns a 2.43 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP. He'll make his first trip to Coors Field on Sunday to face off against the Rockies. • Paul Skenes strikes out eight, Pirates down Cards
Paul Skenes recorded eight strikeouts over 6 1/3 scoreless innings in a win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Skenes left the game with the ballgame knotted in a scoreless stalemate after scattering five hits over six-plus frames. The rookie phenom did everything he could to position himself for a win, allowing just one extra-base hit while not surrendering a walk. He ran into a slight bit of trouble in the fifth inning, giving up back-to-back singles to kick off the frame. However, with Nolan Arenado on third and no outs, Skenes would strike out the next two batters he faced before getting Michael Siani to ground out to end the inning. Skenes lowered his ERA to 2.43 on the season and will have a chance to earn his next win on Sunday against the Rockies. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:21 pm

    • Bobby Miller to make rehab start Thursday at AAA
Bobby Miller will make another minor league rehab start on Thursday for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Miller will return to Los Angeles if he gets through this latest rehab outing without any issues. The 25-year-old righty has been on the shelf since mid-April due to right shoulder inflammation, but it sounds like he’s really close to making it back. Rotoworld Tuesday, 5:12 pm
