      Eovaldi (groin) will undergo an MRI on Friday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

      Advice: Eovaldi, who was removed from Thursday's win over the Nationals, will travel with the club to Kansas City, where he will undergo the procedure. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said they are "being cautious" with the 34-year-old Eovaldi, whose next turn is due Tuesday. Nothing will be determined until after results of the imaging are interpreted, but Bochy indicated the pitcher "may need some rest" and that the team is "going to take care of him."       Cole (elbow) is expected to throw a bullpen session Saturday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

      Advice: Cole will throw off a mound for the first time since being placed on the 60-day injured list with nerve irritation and edema in his right elbow in late March. The 33-year-old is reportedly targeting a return in "mid June," according to Heyman. The right-hander is eligible to be activated from the IL on May 27, but it appears as if he will remain sidelined for awhile longer than that. With his pedigree, it comes as no surprise that the Yankees are being cautious with their ace, who produced a 2.63 ERA with a 9.6 K/9 over 209 innings in 33 starts last year.       The New York Post’s Jon Heyman reports Gerrit Cole (elbow) is now targeting a mid-June return.

      Advice: Heyman adds that Cole is scheduled to throw his first bullpen session on Saturday as he works his way back from nerve inflammation in his right elbow. The 33-year-old fantasy ace should progress to facing hitters in the coming weeks before heading out on a minor league rehab assignment.       Nathan Eovaldi was removed from Thursday’s start against the Nationals due to right groin tightness.

      Advice: Eovaldi will continue to undergo further evaluation, including an MRI on Friday following an early exit from Thursday afternoon’s showdown with a trainer after 92 pitches through 5 2/3 scoreless frames. The 34-year-old righty finished with eight strikeouts and only issued a pair of walks. He was unlikely to work much further into the contest, but the fact that he’s dealing with a groin issue certainly puts his next start in serious jeopardy.       Emmanuel Clase struck out one batter in a scoreless tenth inning to earn the save against the Astros.

      Advice: After the Guardians took a one-run lead in the top of the tenth inning, Clase was called on to close it out in the bottom of the frame. He struck out the first batter, then got Mauricio Dubón to line into a double play with the help of an outstanding diving catch by Steven Kwan.
