      Advice: Peralta got no run support again Tuesday, with the Brewers being held scoreless until the bottom of the ninth. Still, the 28-year-old generated 23 swinging strikes in less than six innings and tied his season high in Ks. His only blemish was a solo homer by Michael Busch in the third inning. After yielding three or more runs in three straight starts to open up May, Peralta has yielded two runs -- both solo homers -- with 18 strikeouts in 12.2 innings during his last two starts.       Freddy Peralta allowed one earned run and three hits over 5 2/3 innings while striking out 11 in Tuesday’s loss to the Cubs.

      Advice: Peralta was solid in this one, striking out 11 batters while allowing just five total base runners. A solo homer by Michael Busch in the third inning was his lone blemish on the night, as Peralta largely held the Cubs in check. He was bailed out of a loss thanks to a two-out RBI single by Willy Adames in the ninth and is now sporting a 3.61 ERA and 1.06 WHIP through 11 games.       Valdez (3-3) took the loss against Seattle on Monday, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four batters over six innings.

      Advice: Valdez looked to be in for a rough night after giving up three runs on four hits in the first inning, but he settled in from there and yielded just two hits and no runs the rest of the way. That allowed him to squeak by with a quality start, though he nonetheless ended with his second straight loss. Valdez gave up eight runs over five frames against the Angels in his previous appearance, so this was a decent bounce-back despite the difficult first inning.     • Framber Valdez turns in quality start in loss
      Framber Valdez surrendered three runs in six innings Monday in a no-decision versus the Mariners.

      Advice: All of the runs scored in the first, an inning that could have been much worse if Jake Meyers didn’t cover half of the outfield to chase down a Cal Raleigh fly with the bases loaded. Valdez still gave up four hits that inning, but he allowed just two more the rest of the way. Nevertheless, he still took the loss in a 3-2 game, leaving him 3-3 with a 4.34 ERA for the season.       Gasser did not factor into the decision Monday against the Cubs, allowing three hits and no walks over six shutout innings. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Gasser dominated the Cubs, pounding them with a sound five-pitch mix to collect his second career quality start. The 24-year-old rookie has impressed in 23 innings so far, producing a 1.96 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 13:1 K:BB. Things have been excellent under the hood too, as he owns a 2.52 FIP and 47.3 percent groundball rate. Gasser is tentatively set to make his next scheduled start against the White Sox at home.     • Gasser strikes out seven in no-decision Monday
      Robert Gasser threw six shutout innings and got the no-decision in the Brewers’ 5-1 victory over the Cubs on Monday.



      Advice: Gasser left the game in the seventh inning with two on and nobody. Reliever Bryan Hudson escaped the jam without any runs being charged to Gasser, who allowed only three hits and struck out seven. He lowered his ERA to 1.96 in four starts. Gasser has a SO:BB of 13:1 and 47 percent ground ball percentage. He’s certainly a promising rookie, though he’s probably due to give up some runs eventually as his xFIP is 3.99. The 24-year-old left-hander is set to face the White Sox at home this weekend.

    • Earns well-deserved win
      Weathers improved to 3-4 on the season after tossing six scoreless innings in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Diamondbacks. He allowed just four hits and one walk while striking out seven.

      Advice: Weathers capped off his excellent run in May with another dominant outing Sunday. All four hits given up were singles and he never really faced much of a threat en route to his first win since April 16. Weathers has now posted at least seven strikeouts in consecutive outings, something he only did once in his first nine starts this year. He now has five straight quality starts and has given up just one run in his last 21 innings. The 24-year-old will carry a 3.16 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 53:20 K:BB (62.2 innings) into a home matchup with the Rangers this weekend. Rotowire.com Monday, 5:55 am

    • Hurt by home runs
      Assad (4-1) took the loss Sunday against the Cardinals, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out eight over five innings.

      Advice: Assad's final run line could've looked a lot better had it not been for two mistakes thrown to Paul Goldschmidt. He served up nearly identical two-run homers to Goldschmidt in the third and fifth innings to give the Cardinals a lead they would never relinquish. Assad has now allowed multiple home runs in back-to-back starts while also walking eight batters over that span. The one positive to take away from Sunday's outing is he was able to tie his career-high with eight strikeouts and has 19 strikeouts over his last 15.2 innings. Assad will carry a 2.17 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 54:23 K:BB into his next matchup against the Reds this weekend. Rotowire.com Monday, 5:22 am

      Lively (4-2) allowed two runs on four hits and two walks over seven innings Sunday, striking out five and earning a win over the Angels.

      Advice: Lively looked terrific with the exception of Matt Thaiss' two-run shot in the fifth inning. It was Lively's first quality start since May 4 but he's now won three straight starts. He's allowed three or fewer runs in each of his eight starts this year, resulting in an impressive 2.80 ERA through 45 innings. Lively's next start is expected to be at home against the Nationals, where he'll look to extend his winning streak to four. Rotowire.com Monday, 5:00 am
