    • Returns to starting lineup
Soler (shoulder) is serving as the designated hitter and batting in the leadoff spot for Friday's game against the Rockies, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: The Giants reinstated Soler from the 10-day injured list Friday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com. Soler made two rehab appearances with Triple-A Sacramento, and he went 2-for-3 with one RBI in Thursday's outing. Before landing on the IL, the 32-year-old was slashing .202/.294/.361 with five home runs and eight RBI over 136 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 23 minutes ago

    • Jorge Soler (shoulder) returns to Giants’ lineup
Giants activated OF Jorge Soler from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: The 32-year-old slugger will return to the Giants’ lineup on Friday night against the Rockies, serving as their leadoff man and designated hitter. Before landing on the injured list with a right shoulder strain, Soler had been hitting a disappointing .202/.294/.361 with five long balls and only eight RBI in 34 games. • Goes yard again
Lowe went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Thursday's 7-5 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Lowe has generated at least one hit in all eight starts since coming off the IL and tallied his second homer in the Boston series Thursday. He tagged Cooper Criswell for a two-run shot in the third inning to put the Rays ahead 3-1. Lowe owns a .957 OPS in 38 plate appearances this season with four runs scored. • Lowe leaves the yard Thursday
Josh Lowe went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI against the Red Sox on Thursday.

Advice: It was Lowe’s second home run of the season. He hit an 0-2 pitch from Cooper Criswell into the right field bullpen that looked like it could’ve been caught by outfielder Wilyer Abreu. Lowe started the season on the IL, but he’s now hitting .294 with a .956 OPS. He really just needs to stay healthy for another big season.

    • Pushes further away from slump
Torres went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored during Thursday's 5-0 win over the Twins.

Advice: After enduring a 5-for-36 (.138) slump from Apr. 29 to May 11, Torres has gone 6-for-16 (.375) and has scored four runs during his last four games. On Thursday, he clubbed a pair of doubles off Joe Ryan to bring his season total to six through 187 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:11 pm

    • Keeps raking
Volpe went 2-for-5 with a solo home run during Thursday's 5-0 win over the Twins.

Advice: Volpe extended his hit streak to nine games with a first-inning solo home run off Joe Ryan. During that stretch, Volpe has gone yard three times with 10 total RBI while logging multiple hits four times. After an up-and-down rookie campaign, Volpe owns a .273/.348/.432 slash line with six homers and nine stolen bases through 199 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:01 pm

    • Jorge Soler (shoulder) continues rehab assignment
Jorge Soler (shoulder) will play another minor league rehab contest on Thursday for Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Soler went 0-for-4 with a strikeout on Wednesday in his rehab assignment debut. The 32-year-old slugger checked out fine after being hit in the head by a deflection during batting practice earlier this week and should be ready to return to San Francisco’s lineup at some point in the near future. He landed on the injured list earlier this month with a right shoulder strain. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:30 pm

    • Positive strides in bullpen session
Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said Thursday in an interview on SNY that Senga (shoulder) recently had "a good bullpen" session where he was "making some strides."

Advice: Senga had to pull back on facing hitters while he dealt with mechanical issues, but it sounds like he and the Mets were happy with how his last throwing session went. Stearns said he wasn't sure exactly when Senga would be ready to begin a rehab assignment, but it sounds like it could be relatively soon. The right-hander is coming back from a right posterior shoulder capsule strain. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:46 pm

    • Anthony Volpe homers, steals base in victory
Anthony Volpe went 2-for-5 with a leadoff homer and also stole a base on Thursday, leading the Yankees to a 5-0 victory over the Twins.

Advice: Volpe kicked off the contest with a leadoff homer against Twins starter Joe Ryan for his sixth round-tripper of the year. He also picked up his ninth stolen base of the season a couple frames later. The 23-year-old’s power output was a bit diminished at the outset of the year following offseason changes to flatten his swing and implement an all-fields approach, but he’s started to drive the ball a bit more of late with three homers in his last nine contests.
