    • Suffers right elbow contusion
The Cardinals announced that Arenado was removed in the top of the eighth inning of Wednesday's game against the Marlins due to a right elbow contusion.

Advice: Initial X-rays on Arenado's elbow appear to have revealed no structural damage, but he'll undergo further medical evaluation as the Cardinals look to ascertain that he's not dealing with anything more than a bruise. Before he was lifted from the game for a pitch runner after being hit in the elbow by a 94 mile-per-hour sinker during his fourth plate appearance of the day, Arenado went 2-for-3 with his first stolen base of the season and a run scored. • Cardinals say Arenado has right elbow contusion
The Cardinals said Nolan Arenado has a right elbow contusion after being hit by a pitch Wednesday.

Advice: That doesn’t mean much at this point, since he’s still undergoing tests. It certainly didn’t look good when it happened. Rotoworld 9 minutes ago

    • Leaves following HBP on elbow
Arenado was removed from Wednesday's game in Miami after being hit by a pitch on the right elbow, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. He went 2-for-3 with his first stolen base of the season and a run scored prior to exiting the game.

Advice: A Huascar Brazoban offering in the top of the eighth inning caught Arenado, who went down in a heap. He looked to be in considerable pain and eventually exited the field with a trainer. The Cardinals should have more on his condition shortly. Rotowire.com 20 minutes ago

    • Nolan Arenado exits after taking pitch off right elbow
Nolan Arenado left Wednesday’s game against the Marlins after being hit on the right elbow by a pitch.

Advice: Arenado was still in a whole lot of pain and not moving his arm as he was helped off. José Fermín replaced him in the contest. If Arenado goes on the IL, Fermín would stand to benefit, but the Cardinals could also give Brandon Donovan more infield time. Rotoworld 25 minutes ago

    • Sits versus lefty
Pederson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Nationals.

Advice: Pederson's only start against a lefty this season came earlier this month versus a left-handed opener in the Giants' Erik Miller. With the Nationals sending southpaw Patrick Corbin to the bump Wednesday, Pederson will take a seat while Eugenio Suarez serves as Arizona's designated hitter. Rotowire.com Today, 8:53 am
    • Swipes eighth bag
Varsho went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Getting the start in center field and hitting cleanup, Varsho pilfered his third bag in the last 10 games and his eighth of the season in nine attempts. The 27-year-old sports a lopsided .216/.296/.446 slash line on the season with 11 homers, 35 RBI and 40 runs in 69 contests, but his .742 OPS still provides a significant improvement on the Blue Jays' other option in center field, Kevin Kiermaier (.545 OPS). • Day off Wednesday
Cronenworth is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Philadelphia.

Advice: Cronenworth will get his first day off in more than a month as the Padres and Phillies conclude their series with a day game after a night game. Tyler Wade will fill in at second base while Cronenworth gets some rest. Rotowire.com Today, 7:18 am

    • Three hits in Tuesday's win
Pederson went 3-for-4 in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Nationals.

Advice: All three knocks were singles, but it was still another busy night on the basepaths for Pederson, who also got hit by a pitch. The veteran slugger is batting .375 (12-for-32) over the last 10 games with two doubles, two homers, two steals, eight runs and 12 RBI as he takes advantage of a long stretch of right-handers being sent to the mound against the Diamondbacks. With Patrick Corbin and MacKenzie Gore set to start for Washington in the final two games of the series, however, Pederson figures to head to the bench despite his current form. • Converts on 19th save
Iglesias picked up the save Tuesday against Detroit, throwing a perfect inning with one strikeout.

Advice: Iglesias is now 19-for-21 on save chances this season and holds the fourth most saves in baseball. Tuesday's outing was a strong rebound after allowing a two-run homer and taking the loss Sunday against Tampa Bay. Overall, Iglesias owns a 2.60 ERA across 27.2 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 5:12 am
