    • Getting breather
Meyers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Cardinals, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Meyers looks to be receiving a routine maintenance day after producing two hits and two RBI in the first two games of the series. Houston will go with Mauricio Dubon in center field Wednesday as it attempts to complete the sweep of St. Louis. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:17 am

    • Swipes fourth bag
Meyers went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base Sunday against the Twins.

Advice: Meyers started his 17th consecutive game in center field and hit fifth Sunday -- matching his highest spot in the order of the season. He's gone 19-for-61 in that span, also tallying three homers, eight runs scored 10 RBI and two stolen bases. Meyers is on the field primarily due to his defensive play, though he's benefitted at the plate from cutting his strikeout rate to 18.7 percent in 155 plate appearances. • Mookie Betts swats leadoff homer in win on Sunday
Mookie Betts swatted a leadoff home run on Sunday afternoon, helping to propel the Dodgers to victory over the visiting Rockies.

Advice: Betts didn’t waste much time in this one, crushing the third pitch that Austin Gomber threw for a 354-foot (95.8 mph EV) solo shot to give the Dodgers an early lead that they’d never relinquish. That would be the 31-year-old superstar’s only hit in four at-bats in the ballgame. For the season, Betts is now hitting a sublime .318/.412/.515 with nine homers, 32 RBI and nine stolen bases. • Pops leadoff homer Sunday
Betts went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Rockies.

Advice: The Dodgers had all the offense they needed for the win after their first at-bat, as Betts drilled Austin Gomber's first pitch over the wall in left field. Prior to Sunday, Betts had gone 0-for-13 over the last three games, which was his longest slump of the season. That's a testament to his consistency and his elite skills as the tone-setter atop the Dodgers' lineup. Betts is slashing .318/.412/.515 with nine homers, 32 RBI, 43 runs scored, nine stolen bases, 14 doubles and three triples over 60 contests. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:30 pm

    • Contributes grand slam in victory
Suzuki went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and a triple in Saturday's 7-5 win against Cincinnati.

Advice: The Cubs fell behind by four runs early but tied the game with one stroke of the bat on Suzuki's second-inning grand slam. It was his first career grand slam and sixth homer of the campaign. Suzuki has hit safely in nine straight games and is batting .324 (12-for-37) with two homers, seven RBI and a stolen base during that span. Rotowire.com Saturday, 11:26 pm
    • Suzuki hits triple, grand slam in win Saturday
Seiya Suzuki went 2-for-4 with a triple and a grand slam against the Reds on Saturday.

Advice: Suzuki’s home run was his sixth of the season and second in the last three games. He seems to be completely over the oblique injury he dealt with earlier this season. Suzuki is 12-for-37 (.324) with two home runs and seven RBI over his last nine games.

    • Kerry Carpenter dealing with lumbar spine fracture
The Tigers announced Friday that Kerry Carpenter is dealing with a lumbar spine fracture — not just inflammation as previously announced.

Advice: No word yet on an updated timeline, but there are rumblings that the 26-year-old slugger is going to miss at least a couple of months. That would be a devastating blow to the middle of the Tigers’ lineup, as Carpenter as been the team’s best hitter through the first two months of the season. Rotoworld Friday, 2:01 pm

    • Has stress fracture in back
Carpenter has been diagnosed with a lumbar spine stress fracture, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Advice: Carpenter was placed on the 10-day injured list earlier this week with what was called lumbar spine inflammation, but further testing appears to have revealed a more significant injury. The Tigers have not divulged a potential timetable for Carpenter's return, but his absence could be a lengthy one. Akil Baddoo should continue to see his playing time rise while Carpenter is on the shelf. Rotowire.com Friday, 2:00 pm

    • Tommy Edman (wrist) takes BP left-handed Friday
Tommy Edman (wrist) was able to take batting practice from the left side of the plate for the first time on Friday.

Advice: Edman is already eligible to be activated from the 60-day injured list, but he’s still not close to being ready. The fact that he’s now able to face live pitching from both sides of the plate though is an encouraging sign and perhaps a minor league rehab assignment could be in the cards soon. He’s going to need plenty of at-bats there before he’s ready to join the Cardinals though and there’s no guarantee that he’ll even be ready before the end of June. Rotoworld Friday, 1:44 pm
