      Doval earned a save against the Red Sox on Thursday, striking out one batter in a perfect inning of work.

      Advice: Doval entered in the bottom of the ninth with a two-run lead and retired the side in order on 14 pitches. He's given up just two runs over 11 innings since a rough season debut against San Diego on March 30.       Harrison allowed one run on three hits and five walks while striking out seven batters over five innings in a no-decision against Boston on Thursday.

      Advice: Harrison issued a season-high five free passes -- as many as he had handed out over six starts coming into the contest -- but managed to continuously get out of trouble, as none of the batters he put on base via walk came around to score. The southpaw thus managed to emerge with a no-decision, though his high pitch count of 95 offerings limited him to five frames and prevented him from picking up what could have been his fifth quality start of the campaign. Though Harrison has settled for a no-decision in each of his past two appearances, he's allowed just one run while fanning 14 batters over 11 frames during that span.       Torres went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Orioles.

      Advice: Torres led off the sixth inning with a 418-foot shot to center field off Keegan Akin, cutting the Yankees' deficit to 7-2. While it didn't ultimately impact the final score, the home run was certainly a weight off of Torres' shoulders -- he'd gone 32 games without a long ball to start the campaign, a homerless streak of 53 regular-season games if you go back to Torres' last home run Sept. 7.     • Camilo Doval picks up sixth save against Red Sox
      Camilo Doval struck out a batter in a scoreless inning of work while picking up a save Thursday against the Red Sox.

      Advice: Doval is now up to six saves on the season. The right-hander didn’t allow a hit while picking up a strikeout, and he pounded the zone with 11-of-14 pitches going for strikes.       Kyle Harrison went five innings while allowing one run on three hits with seven strikeouts against the Red Sox on Thursday.

      Advice: It wasn’t always easy for Harrison despite the strong line. The left-hander didn’t find the strike zone on a consistent basis, as he issued five walks with 57-of-95 pitches counting for strikes. Still, the 22-year-old was able to work around those free passes thanks in large part to those aforementioned strikeouts, and he’s allowed just one run over his last two starts.     • Nathan Eovaldi exits start due to groin tightness
      Nathan Eovaldi was removed from Thursday’s start against the Nationals due to right groin tightness.

      Advice: Eovaldi will continue to undergo further evaluation, including an MRI on Friday following an early exit from Thursday afternoon’s showdown with a trainer after 92 pitches through 5 2/3 scoreless frames. The 34-year-old righty finished with eight strikeouts and only issued a pair of walks. He was unlikely to work much further into the contest, but the fact that he’s dealing with a groin issue certainly puts his next start in serious jeopardy.       Eovaldi was removed from his start Thursday against the Nationals with right groin tightness, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

      Advice: Eovaldi didn't look comfortable on the mound after making a pitch in the sixth inning, prompting a visit from the Rangers' training staff and his eventual removal. The severity of the veteran righty's injury remains unknown, but the team may provide more information after Thursday's game.       Montgomery (1-2) took the loss against the Dodgers on Wednesday, allowing six runs on six hits and three walks over three innings while striking out one.

      Advice: It wasn't Montgomery's night as the lefty got pounded for five runs in the second inning after failing to retire six batters in a row, leading to his shortest outing of the campaign. He allowed a season-high two home runs in the contest and posted just one strikeout, giving him an 8:4 K:BB through his first three starts. Montgomery produced only three swinging strikes on the night and has yet to record more than four strikeouts in an outing, despite going six or more innings on two occasions.       Manager Torey Lovullo said after Wednesday's 8-0 loss to the Dodgers that Gallen (hamstring) will make his next start Tuesday against the Reds, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

      Advice: Gallen was removed from his most recent start last Friday with a hamstring injury. The Diamondbacks had tentatively planned for Gallen to start the series finale with the Dodgers, but he ultimately needed more time to heal up from the injury. Arizona will skip his turn in the rotation entirely this week, but he'll tentatively line up for two starts the following week.
