    • Begins rehab assignment
Friedl (wrist) began a rehab assignment Thursday and is 1-for-7 with a walk over two games for Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Friedl, batting in his customary leadoff spot, played seven innings at shortstop Thursday and a full game Friday as the designated hitter. Reds manager David Bell told Mike Petraglia of MLB.com that he'll have a better idea of Friedl's return timeline by the end of the weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 6:27 am

    • Tanner Bibee struggles in loss to Angels on Friday
Tanner Bibee struggled in a losing effort against the Angels on Friday night, allowing six runs on eight hits over his five innings of work.

Advice: Bibee walked one and struck out four in the contest. The 25-year-old right-hander followed up one of his best starts of the season with an absolute dud against a depleted Angels’ squad on Friday night. The bulk of the damage came via the long ball, with Nolan Schanuel clubbing a solo homer in the third inning and Mickey Moniak adding a three-run blast in the fourth. Bibee generated nine swings and misses on 91 pitches on the night, posting an underwhelming CSW of only 23 percent. He’ll look to get back on track as he carries a 4.46 ERA and 1.38 WHIP into Wednesday’s matchup against the Tigers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:33 pm

    • Altuve drives in run, steals base in win over M’s
Jose Altuve went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in a win Friday over the Mariners.

Advice: Altuve hit a perfect safety squeeze to knock in his 12th run of the game and give Houston a 4-3 lead in the seventh inning. The steal was the seventh of the season and 300th of his career. Altuve has been sensational thus far in 2024, and is playing near — if not at — the MVP level he reached not all that long ago. • Pulled after four
Nola did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Both of the Giants' runs came in the second inning on a Thairo Estrada double, though it certainly could've been a lot worse -- Nola needed 46 pitches to get through the frame, issuing four walks. The right-hander was ultimately pulled after throwing 89 pitches through four innings, as he failed to qualify for the win. Nola, who'd gone eight innings in each of his previous two starts, is 4-1 on the season with a 3.32 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 40:15 K:BB across seven outings (43.1 innings). Nola's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Marlins in his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:00 pm
    • Aaron Nola pulled after four versus Giants
Aaron Nola was lifted after allowing two runs and walking four in four innings Friday against the Giants.

Advice: A really odd start for Nola, who pretty much always lasts five innings unless he’s truly bad or hurt. Tonight, though, he walked four for the second time this season — he did that just once between 2022 and ’23 — and the Phillies didn’t think it was worth sending him back out for the fifth at 89 pitches. They were probably right, too, as the bullpen went on to allowing one run over five innings in a 4-3 win. Nola’s velocity is down, and he’s struggled to generate as many missed swings as usual. The hope is that he’ll get stronger, and he probably deserves the benefit of the doubt, given his history. Fortunately, even though his peripherals are well off, he has a 3.32 ERA through seven starts. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:46 pm
    • Jason Foley implodes in ninth inning on Friday
Jason Foley suffered a brutal blown save against the Yankees on Friday night, surrendering hits to all four batters that he faced.

Advice: Yikes. In what was a terrific pitcher’s duel that had the Tigers leading 1-0 heading to the ninth inning, Foley immediately got off on the wrong foot by allowing a leadoff single to Aaron Judge. Alex Verdugo then dropped down a bunt single with third baseman Zach McKinstry playing back, setting the stage for Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton then ripped an RBI double into right field on the second pitch he saw, and Anthony Rizzo followed with a run-scoring single to walk it off. Foley is probably still fine in the ninth inning, as he has converted nine of his first 10 save chances, though his 1.54 WHIP leads much to be desired. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:13 pm
    • Bobby Miller (shoulder) throws bullpen on Friday
Bobby Miller (shoulder) threw a successful bullpen session on Friday.

Advice: The 25-year-old hurler will likely repeat the process another time or two before facing live hitters, but he’s trending in the right direction. Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts noted that Miller should be able to ramp up quickly once he’s ready to face live hitters, so take that for what it’s worth. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:11 pm

    • Throws off mound
Miller (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Miller has been on the injured list since April 13 due to inflammation in his right shoulder, and Friday marked his first time throwing off a mound since then. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he isn't sure how many more bullpen sessions Miller will need to throw before he progresses to facing live hitters, so the 25-year-old righty will likely remain without a clear return timeline until he gets to that point. • Receiving Friday off
Langford is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Langford started the previous 15 games and will receive a day to reset after he posted a .542 OPS during that stretch. Travis Jankowski will bat eighth as the designated hitter Friday for Texas. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:29 pm
