      Manager Alex Cora said Friday that Pivetta (elbow) won't require another rehab start and will return from the 15-day injured list to make his next start with Boston, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

      Advice: Pivetta surrendered four runs over three-plus innings during his lone rehab start at Triple-A Worcester on Thursday. Despite his subpar performance, the Red Sox will waste no time returning the 31-year-old right-hander to their rotation, which has been hit hard by injuries this season. Pivetta has given up one earned run across 11 innings through two starts in 2024. He appears in line to make his return to the rotation in Atlanta on Tuesday or Wednesday.       Pete Fairbanks (nerve issue) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.

      Fairbanks (arm) is set to begin a rehab stint at Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reported Friday.

      Advice: Fairbanks has been dealing with a nerve issue in his throwing arm and after receiving positive results on testing done in late April, he's set to see game action.       Pivetta (elbow) allowed four runs on three hits and four walks while striking out five over three-plus innings for Triple-A Worcester on Thursday.

      Advice: Pivetta threw 62 pitches in the first and possibly only start while on a rehab assignment. He ran into immediate trouble, walking the first two batters of the game then giving up three straight singles. He settled in after that, retiring the next nine batters, before he was pulled following another two walks to lead off the fourth inning. "Repertoire felt good, just wasn't throwing a ton of strikes," Pivetta told Tommy Cassell of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. "I have some mechanical adjustments to work on but we'll be fine." Red Sox manager Alex Cora previously indicated Pivetta would need just one rehab start, and if that's the case, the right-hander is on schedule for next week's two-game set against Atlanta on Tuesday or Wednesday.       Advice: As expected, Pivetta threw 62 pitches (36 strikes) in his rehab outing and figures to be ready to take the ball next week against the Braves, most likely on Tuesday, down at Truist Park.       Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Thursday that Pivetta (elbow) could rejoin the rotation next week during the team's May 7-8 series in Atlanta, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

      Advice: Pivetta is slated to make a rehab start with Triple-A Worcester on Thursday, and it appearance that will be the lone appearance before he rejoins the Red Sox' rotation. The right-hander has been on the shelf since early April with a right elbow flexor strain.     • Mason Miller silences Pirates in non-save spot
      Mason Miller fired a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday in a non-save situation against the Pirates.

      Advice: Miller got the call to protect a four-run lead in the final frame after needing 16 pitches to close out Tuesday’s victory less than 24 hours ago. He got Jack Suwinski to ground out and fanned Henry Davis before coaxing a game-ending ground out from Ke’Bryan Hayes. He averaged 100.8 mph on his fastball and needed just 10 pitches to spin a perfect frame. The hard-throwing 25-year-old righty has reeled off 12 consecutive scoreless appearances since April 2, and has converted eight saves to go along with a microscopic 1.26 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 29/4 K/BB ratio across 14 1/3 innings of work.       Munoz completed a five-out save in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Atlanta, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out three in the process.

      Advice: Munoz was forced into the game a bit earlier than expected after Ryne Stanek allowed three base hits to turn things into a 3-1 ballgame. Munoz did allow an inherited runner to score on a throwing error but was dominant otherwise and retired the side in order in the ninth with two strikeouts. Tuesday was the fourth time this season Munoz has pitched more than three outs and it was the third consecutive save he's converted, with all three coming over the last five days.       Andrés Muñoz pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to get a save against Atlanta on Tuesday.

      Advice: Muñoz did allow an inherited runner to score with a throwing error. After that snafu the right-hander was absolutely dominant while picking up three strikeouts along with his fifth save of the season.
