• Draws start Tuesday
Vasquez is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Advice: As was expected after he was promoted from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday, Vasquez will end up filling the rotation spot vacated by Joe Musgrove (elbow), who was moved to the 15-day injured list. Vasquez has previously made a pair of starts for the Padres this season, covering 7.2 innings between those outings while giving up eight runs (five earned) on 11 hits and three walks. • Recalled from Triple-A
Atlanta recalled Kerr from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, Grant McAuley of 929 The Game reports.

Advice: Kerr holds a 4.50 ERA and an impressive 22:5 K:BB across 14 innings this season with Gwinnett. He will give manager Brian Snitker another left-handed bullpen option while Tyler Matzek (elbow) is sidelined. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago

  • Out with elbow inflammation
Atlanta placed Matzek on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to May 5, with left elbow inflammation, Grant McAuley of 929 The Game reports.

Advice: Matzek missed the entire 2023 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery and has struggled in 2024, collecting a 9.90 ERA and 10:3 K:BB across 10 relief innings. It's not clear at this point how long he might be sidelined. Ray Kerr is up to take Matzek's spot in Atlanta's bullpen. Rotowire.com 16 minutes ago

  • Pops fifth homer
Gordon went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: The 28-year-old outfielder took Walker Buehler deep in the top of the second inning to briefly tie the game at 3-3, but Los Angeles took the lead for good in the bottom of the frame. Gordon has gone yard in back-to-back games and is up to five homers on the year in only 32 games -- a surprisingly power display for a player whose career high is nine home runs in 138 games, set in 2022. The rest of Gordon's numbers are far less impressive, and he's slashing .212/.244/.424 with nine runs, 16 RBI and only one steal in two attempts. Rotowire.com 19 minutes ago

  • Starts in left field
Duran started in left field and went 0-for-2 in Monday's 4-2 win over Oakland.

Advice: Duran made his first outfield start of 2024, coming against lefty Alex Wood. He was eventually pinch hit for by Evan Carter when a right-handed reliever entered the game. Duran, who started 32 games in the outfield last season, will be part of the crew that replaces the injured Wyatt Langford (hamstring), who is expected to miss three-to-four weeks. Duran is the lone righty-hitting outfielder in that replacement mix, joining lefties Carter and Travis Jankowski. Of the trio, Carter is expected to get the bulk of the starts. Duran wielded a capable backup bat in 2023, posting 14 home runs and a .767 OPS, but he's off to less enticing start this year (.226/.293/.264). Rotowire.com Today, 3:44 am

  • Corey Seager’s three-run homer leads Rangers
Corey Seager hit a three-run homer in the eighth to lead the Rangers past the A’s 4-2 on Monday.

Advice: The Rangers were still scoreless until Seager took Lucas Erceg deep in the eighth. They then added an insurance run in the ninth. The homer was Seager’s third in 33 games this season. He’s obviously still way off his 2023 numbers, but not in such a way that he’s a particularly weaker bet for the rest of the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:31 pm
  • Andrew Heaney turns in quality start versus A’s
Andrew Heaney allowed two runs — one earned — over six innings Monday against the A’s.

Advice: Still no wins for Heaney, though the Rangers finally did prevail in one of his starts for the first time this season. Heaney remained 0-4 with a 4.50 ERA in spite of a second straight inspiring effort. He’s still in line to be supplanted if the Rangers get healthier. Expectations were that Max Scherzer would soon take his rotation spot, but the Rangers will likely still have room for him with Nathan Eovaldi and Cody Bradford on the shelf. • Kirby Yates notches save against A’s
Kirby Yates earned his sixth save with a hitless ninth Monday against the Athletics.

Advice: After settling for a win in a two-inning outing on Sunday, Yates was back closing tonight and had an easy time versus the A’s. David Roberson also pitched in a second straight game tonight, so the Rangers might need to think outside of the box if they have another lead Monday. Perhaps José Leclerc or Josh Sborz could earn a save. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:31 pm
  • Alex Wood shuts down Rangers in no-decision
Alex Wood blanked the Rangers for six innings in a no-decision Monday.

Advice: Wood didn’t quite dominate in striking out three tonight, but he lowered his ERA from 6.32 to 5.30. He has a kind matchup against the Mariners in Seattle next time out, but he’s unlikely to be much of a factor in mixed leagues going forward. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:31 pm
