    • Rips walk-off double
Garcia went 1-for-4 with a double two RBI, with a run and walk in Thursday's 4-3 win vs the Yankees.

Advice: Garcia came up with two on and two out in the ninth and took a Clay Holmes sinker down the left field line to give his team the win. The 24-year-old entered the game in a bit of a slump in June with just one RBI and a .159 average for the month. Garcia continues to provide a spark for the Royals this season with his solid counting stats, he now has 18 extra-base hits and 38 RBI with 16 stolen bases through 68 games. • Maikel Garcia delivers game-winner for Royals
Maikel Garcia delivered a two-run double with two outs in the ninth to give the Royals a 4-3 win over the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: Garcia hasn’t hit quite as well as we expected, but he has 38 RBI anyway, mostly because his average is over 100 points higher with runners on than with the bases empty. Between that, his 45 runs scored in the leadoff spot and his 16 steals, he’s been an odd, three-category wonder so far. Rotoworld 40 minutes ago
    • Back from injured list
The Mets reinstated Diaz (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Thursday.

Advice: Diaz has been on the injured list since late May due to a right shoulder impingement. He fired two shutout innings with High-A Brooklyn during a rehab assignment, and manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that the Mets will make Diaz their lone closer once again after the team had used a committee approach during the early portion of the season. The 30-year-old righty currently owns a 5.40 ERA and 1.25 WHIP alongside a 30:7 K:BB through 20 innings on the year and has converted five of his nine save opportunities. Rotowire.com Today, 11:55 am
    • Edwin Díaz returns from IL as Mets’ closer
Mets activated RHP Edwin Díaz from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Díaz is slated to resume closing immediately for the Mets, though the Mets won’t want him to go long without pitching if they don’t generate a save chance these next two days. Díaz missed the minimum 15 days with a shoulder impingement. Rotoworld Today, 11:48 am
    • Secures eighth victory
Gray (8-4) earned the win over Pittsburgh on Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out nine batters over seven innings.

Advice: After allowing the first two batters he faced in the outing to reach base, Gray retired the next 12 hitters to step up against him. The Pirates managed a fifth-inning run on a pair of hits, but that was the only tally they were able to push across the plate. Gray finished with his first quality start since May 3 -- a span of seven appearances -- and snapped a personal two-game losing streak. The right-hander allowed seven runs across 9.2 innings during that two-game stretch, but with Wednesday's excellent outing he improved his overall season ERA to 3.01. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:30 pm
    • Homers off bench Wednesday
Robert hit a solo home run in his lone at-bat in Wednesday's 2-1 extra-inning loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Robert was able to extend the contest with his game-tying blast in the ninth inning. The outfielder has four homers over eight games since he returned from a hip injury, but he's added just one other hit while posting a 3:13 BB:K in that span. He's up to six homers on the year with a .196/.250/.554 slash line through 60 plate appearances. Robert is still seeing steady rest given his lengthy injury history, though his power is a welcome addition to a fairly punchless lineup -- he already has the fourth most homers among White Sox batters this year. • Luis Robert Jr. slugs game-tying homer off the bench
Luis Robert Jr. went 1-for-1 with a solo homer against the Mariners on Wednesday.

Advice: Robert Jr. was on the bench for this one and entered the game as a pinch-hitter to lead off the top of the ninth. With the White Sox trailing by one run, he took Mike Baumann deep to tie things up. The 26-year-old outfielder is slashing .196/.250/.554 with six homers, nine RBI, and one steal across 60 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:22 pm
    • Sonny Gray fans nine in defeating Pirates
Sonny Gray pitched seven innings of one-run ball and struck out nine Wednesday against the Pirates.

Advice: Coming off a down stretch that saw him post a 5.46 ERA in his previous six starts, Gray tonight turned in his first quality start since May 3. He’s now 8-4 with a 3.01 ERA overall. He’s somehow received decisions in all of his starts to date, and he’s the only pitcher qualified for the ERA title who can say that. So far this year, starters have qualified for a decision in 62% of their starts, getting the win 29% of the time and the loss 33% of the time. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:21 pm
    • Three hits in win
Duran went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-6 win over the Phillies.

Advice: Duran singled in the third inning, hit an RBI single and scored in the fifth. He then doubled in the sixth. Duran has been stellar through 10 games in June, hitting .357 with six extra-base hits, five RBI and four steals. He is doing a bit of everything in 2024, hitting .269 with five home runs, 28 RBI, 44 runs scored and 15 steals while hitting leadoff for the Red Sox. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:55 pm
