  • JD Mart homers twice in win over Padres
    J.D. Martinez went 3-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI in a 5-1 win over the Padres on Saturday.

    Advice: Martinez hit his first home run 391 feet off of Jhony Brito in the fourth inning and then followed that up with a 382-foot shot in the seventh. He now has eight home runs and 26 RBI in 43 games for the Mets so far this season. Given his regular playing time and spot in the middle of the Mets’ order, Martinez carries consistent fantasy value even in his age 36 season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:42 pm
     
  • Jackson Merrill power binge continues in loss
    Jackson Merrill went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a loss to the Mets on Saturday.

    Advice: Merrill launched a 411-foot blast against Jose Quintana for his seventh home run of the season. The rookie now has four home runs in his last three games. All of them have also been solo shots. Merrill was billed as primarily a batting average asset who wouldn’t provide much power, so it’s nice to see him starting to show some pop.   • José Quintana spins gem against Padres
    José Quintana allowed one run on two hits in six innings in a win over the Padres on Saturday.

    Advice: Both of Quintana’s hits allowed were for extra bases, but he was able to avoid damage apart from the solo home run to Jackson Merrill. The left-hander induced eight whiffs on 31 swings for a 26 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW. The Padres only had an average exit velocity on contact of 85 mph, as Quintana kept them off the barrel all day. He now has a 4.98 ERA and is not a recommended start next week against the Cubs.   • Mazur can’t escape 4th in loss to Mets
    Adam Mazur allowed two runs on three hits in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Mets on Saturday.

    Advice: Mazur struck out four but walked six on the day. The 23-year-old had just a 43 percent zone rate overall while posting a 23 percent CSW. He’s now walked 13 batters in 12 2/3 innings to start his MLB career which is not exactly ideal. He now has a 7.82 ERA and is no guarantee to make his next start with Yu Darvish close to being activated. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:10 pm
     
  • Braves move Jarred Kelenic up to leadoff spot
    Jarred Kelenic is batting leadoff for Saturday’s game against the Rays.

    Advice: Kelenic has been bumped up to the leadoff spot in the wake of Michael Harris II hitting the injured list with a hamstring strain. It’s a nice temporary boost for the 24-year-old former top prospect’s fantasy outlook, if he can capitalize on the opportunity.   • Moves up to leadoff spot
    Kelenic will start in center field and bat leadoff in Saturday's game versus the Rays.

    Advice: With Michael Harris (hamstring) joining Ronald Acuna (knee) on the shelf, Atlanta has lost its last two leadoff hitters against right-handed pitching. Kelenic will get the next crack at the job, which is quite a promotion given that he hadn't previously batted higher than seventh this season.   • Stays hot Friday
    Merrill went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Mets.

    Advice: The 21-year-old went yard for the third time in the last two games, accounting for all of the Padres' offense on the night with a fifth-inning shot off Sean Manaea. Merrill seems to have flipped a switch in June -- over the last nine games, he's batting .353 (12-for-34) with four doubles, three homers, two steals, five RBI, six runs and an impressive 8.3 percent strikeout rate.   • Opening Saturday
    McGough will serve as Arizona's opening pitcher for Saturday's game against the White Sox, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

    Advice: Saturday will mark McGough's second time serving as Arizona's opener, and he's once again expected to work in front of Tommy Henry, who is likely to operate as a bulk reliever. McGough owns a 5.85 ERA and 1.70 WHIP across 20 innings this season. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:43 pm
