• Latches on with ChiSox
Walsh signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Tuesday, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Walsh elected free agency after being removed from the Rangers' 40-man roster earlier this month. The 30-year-old hit just .226/.317/.321 with one home run through 60 plate appearances with Texas. He'll go to extended spring training for now before eventually reporting to Triple-A Charlotte, where he'll give the White Sox some veteran protection at first base. Rotowire.com Today, 7:43 am

  • White Sox sign Jared Walsh to minor league contract
White Sox signed 1B Jared Walsh to a minor league contract.

Advice: Walsh will report to Arizona before he is assigned to Triple-A Charlotte. The 30-year-old hit .226/.317/.321 with a home run and seven RBI in 60 plate appearances with the Rangers this season, but was let go after the team brought back Nathaniel Lowe from the injured list. • Swipes third bag
Winker went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, two RBI and a stolen base in Monday's win over the Marlins.

Advice: The 30-year-old had a busy day despite his lack of success with the bat, drawing a bases-loaded walk in the fifth inning, then reaching base on a fielder's choice and stealing a bag in the seventh. Winker's reached base safely in 17 of the last 19 games, slashing .278/.369/.472 over that stretch with all three of his homers and all three of his stolen bases on the season along with 13 runs and 13 RBI. With Lane Thomas (knee) and Joey Gallo (shoulder) sidelined, Winker's become the everyday starter in left field, while Eddie Rosario and Alex Call platoon in right. Rotowire.com Today, 7:21 am
  • Gets benched Monday
Sanchez was benched in favor of Dane Myers during the third inning of Monday's loss to the Nationals, Christina DeNicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The 26-year-old got the start in right field but misjudged a looping single into the gap by Alex Call, backpedaling to take the hop and then turning to joke with center fielder Jazz Chisholm about it. The lapse in attention not only allowed Call to stretch his hit into a double, it led to a thumb injury for shortstop Tim Anderson as he tried to apply the tag at second base. Manager Skip Schumaker then pinch hit for Sanchez in the bottom of the frame as part of a double switch, with Vidal Brujan taking over for Anderson. "I have literally no rules except for giving me everything you have," Schumaker said after the game. "He lost the ball in the lights. I've lost the ball in the lights many times. After that, I felt like the effort wasn't there, and so I decided to remove him from the game." The gaffe doesn't seem like it will impact Sanchez's role or workload, and the message from his manager seemed to have been received. "It was just the matter of I disrespected all my teammates," Sanchez said. "That's one of the things that actually I was not feeling well [about], because it's a terrible feeling. And I know that I'm an important piece of the team that I could help, and I took myself out of the game." Sanchez is slashing .239/.282/.328 through 24 games with two homers and a career-high four steals. Rotowire.com Today, 6:52 am
  • Bangs out first career hit
Barger went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Monday's win over the Royals.

Advice: Getting the start at third base and batting ninth, Barger collected his first career big-league hit with a single to lead off the sixth inning. The 24-year-old has gone just 1-for-15 with four strikeouts since his promotion while seeing action at third base and both outfield corners, but he has more errors (two) than hits so far with the Blue Jays, and a return to Triple-A in the near future seems likely if he doesn't turn things around quickly. • Returned to minors
The Rockies returned Toglia to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.

Advice: Toglia was up as the 27th man for the Rockies' two-game series over the weekend in Mexico City versus the Astros but didn't see any action. He's slashed just .106/.143/.362 across 49 big-league plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Today, 6:13 am

  • Plates run with sac fly
Grichuk went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Monday's 8-4 loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Grichuk, starting for the first time in five games, delivered the Diamondbacks' final run with a sacrifice fly as part of a three-run fifth inning. Arizona faced a string of right-handers the last week, forcing the righty-hitting outfielder to the bench. Rotowire.com Today, 4:39 am
  • Jo Adell homers from two hole in Angels’ win
Jo Adell hit his fourth homer Monday as the Angels edged the Phillies 6-5.

Advice: Adell was moved into the second spot in the lineup tonight, and while we’re not sure that’s exactly the right spot for an awful baserunner who strikes out a whole lot, it’s closer to where he belongs than where he was batting previously. Adell remains a flawed player, but he definitely seems to have made some gains again this year after also showing signs of progress last season. Whether he’s a long-term asset in mixed leagues remains to be seen, but he’s worth using right now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:21 pm

  • Batting second Monday
Adell will start in right field and bat second in Monday's contest versus the Phillies.

Advice: It's Adell's seventh straight start in right field and the first time this season that he's batted higher than sixth. The 25-year-old is sporting a .327/.382/.592 batting line with three home runs and five stolen bases over his first 21 games this season and, perhaps most importantly, he's striking out at just a 23.6 percent clip. Adell came into this season with a career 35.4 percent strikeout rate at the major-league level. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:04 pm
