• Masataka Yoshida might require thumb surgery
Red Sox manager Alex Cora indicated Thursday that Masataka Yoshida could wind up requiring surgery on his injured left thumb.

Advice: There’s significant concern that Yoshida could wind up requiring an extended absence as the Red Sox continue gathering medical information after he landed on the injured list earlier this week with a left thumb strain. The 30-year-old slugger, who has transitioned to designated hitter almost exclusively this season, underwent an MRI earlier this week and the club has declined to provide an update on his status. There should be some clarity on whether he’ll require surgery at some point later this week. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago

  • Travis Jankowski plates two in win over Nationals
Travis Jankowski smacked a two-run single on Thursday, lifting the Rangers to a 6-0 victory over the Nationals.

Advice: Jankowski came off the bench and padded Texas’ late lead with a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning. The 32-year-old veteran outfielder has played sparingly this season due to the Rangers’ tremendous position player depth, but he remains an extremely valuable bench component for the defending World Series champions. • Stallings swats three-run homer against Marlins
Jacob Stallings hit a three-run homer in an extra-inning loss to the Marlins on Thursday.

Advice: Stallings took Edward Cabrera deep in the second inning with a pair of runners on. The 34-year-old has his first homer as a member of the Rockies, and it comes against one of his former teams. Stallings hasn’t only received 29 at-bats, but he’s made the most of them with a .345/.429/.517 slash. Rotoworld 53 minutes ago
  • Josh Bell swats fourth homer of season Thursday
Josh Bell hit a solo homer Thursday in a victory over the Rockies.

Advice: Bell tied the game at 3-3 with a solo homer off Peter Lambert. The 31-year-old has gone deep four times in the first 33 games of action for the Marlins while registering a .579 OPS. Those numbers will go up, but maybe not enough to suggest him as a fantasy option in the majority of redraft leagues. Rotoworld 53 minutes ago
