    • Sharp in second win
Blach (2-2) earned the win over the Guardians on Wednesday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over seven innings while striking out five.

Advice: Blach got touched for two runs in the first inning, but was fortunate to receive plenty of run support early after the Rockies got to Logan Allen for seven runs over the first two frames. The lefty would not allow another run after the first and produced three 1-2-3 innings en route to posting his second win of the season. Blach struck out a season-high five batters in the contest while going seven innings for the first time in the campaign. He's now logged back-to-back quality starts and has won two of his last three decisions (spanning four outings). Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago

    • Returning to majors
The Mets will recall Young from Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Advice: With the Mets running low on fresh bullpen arms and Jorge Lopez slated to be DFA'd, Young will return to New York for his second big-league stint of the season. The 30-year-old southpaw threw three scoreless innings across two games with the Mets in early May, and he's posted a 1.59 ERA through 11.1 innings in the minors. Although he's had success limiting runs, Young has been known to give up a fair amount of walks, so he will presumably work in middle relief once he officially gets the call to the majors. • Walks five in loss
Flexen (2-5) allowed two runs on four hits and five walks while striking out six over five innings to take the loss Wednesday versus the Blue Jays.

Advice: Flexen doesn't have the best command, but he hit a low point for the year with this outing. The right-hander has surrendered 16 runs across 18.1 innings over his last four starts, and Wednesday was the first time in that span he's completed five innings. He's now at a 5.50 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 42:22 K:BB over 54 innings across 12 appearances (10 starts) this season. Flexen is projected to make his next start on the road versus the Cubs. • Starting Thursday
Kerr will start Thursday's game against the Nationals, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Reynaldo Lopez was originally scheduled to start Thursday's series finale, but Atlanta will instead give Kerr another shot after he allowed five earned runs in four innings during his first MLB start Friday. The 29-year-old southpaw owns a 5.40 ERA and 1.27 WHIP through 13.1 innings this season and has never pitched more than four innings in a game throughout his career. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:21 pm

    • Steps up, earns win Wednesday
Richards (1-0) allowed a hit and a walk over 3.1 scoreless innings to earn the win Wednesday versus the White Sox.

Advice: Alek Manoah started the game but left in the second inning due to right elbow discomfort. Richards stepped up with his longest outing of the season to at least partially spare the Blue Jays' bullpen, and he was rewarded with the victory. Richards has a 3.29 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 26:13 K:BB over 27.1 innings this season. If Manoah is forced to miss time, it's unlikely Richards steps into the rotation, as he hasn't regularly seen work as a starter since 2019. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:18 pm
    • Ty Blach holds Guardians to two runs in win
Ty Blach allowed two runs with five strikeouts over seven innings in a win over the Guardians on Wednesday.

Advice: Blach had a shaky first inning, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks before getting out of the opening frame. He then settled in nicely, tossing six more scoreless innings while striking out five on the day for the win. The 33-year-old left-hander will take a 4.15 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and a 17/7 K/BB ratio across 34 2/3 innings into a start against the Reds in Colorado on Tuesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:13 pm

    • Chris Flexen walks five in loss
Chris Flexen allowed two earned runs across five innings on Wednesday against the Blue Jays. He walked five and struck out six in a loss.

Advice: Flexen is as ho-hum a starter as you’ll see in the league right now. He nibbled all night against a struggling Blue Jays lineup and his velocity was down a tick compared to his season average. He likely wouldn’t garner a rotation spot on any team besides the White Sox. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:54 pm

    • Angels transfer Jose Cisnero to 60-day IL
Angels transferred RHP Jose Cisnero to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: Nothing has changed in the recovery or the prognosis for the 35-year-old hurler — he’s still working his way back from inflammation in his pitching shoulder — this was done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for Michael Stefanic. There remains no clear timetable for Cisnero’s potential return. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:46 pm

    • Cut by Houston
The Astros released Diaz on Monday.

Advice: Diaz elected free agency after being DFA'd by the Astros in April, but he quickly returned to the team on a minor-league deal. The 29-year-old has since put up a 9.64 ERA in 14 innings at Triple-A Sugar Land, so Houston will elect to part ways with the right-handed reliever. Diaz's minor-league resume hasn't exactly been outstanding, but his 0.96 big-league ERA in 18.2 innings since 2022 may be enough to attract another minor-league deal from a different organization.
