    • Max Meyer throws five shutout in AAA
Max Meyer threw five shutout innings for Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday, striking out six and allowing three hits.

Advice: The Marlins said Meyer would be back up in the majors “soon"; that was a month ago. However, Meyer has now thrown five or more innings in his last two starts after not having gone that deep into games in his first 10 Triple-A outings. Maybe that means he’ll get the call soon, but it does appear that Miami is trying to get an extra year of team control here and will call Meyer up after that deadline passes. • Earns save No. 22
Iglesias picked up the save in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Padres, tossing a clean ninth inning while striking out a batter in the process.

Advice: Iglesias was able to preserve a three-run lead for Atlanta and help the team go into the break on a positive note. He began with a strikeout against Kyle Higashioka before retiring David Peralta and Jurickson Profar on a pair of lineouts. Iglesias hasn't allowed a run in each of his last eight appearances and last blew a save back on May 3. The 34-year-old isn't striking out as many batters as he has throughout his career but is still posting superb numbers. Iglesias is now up to 22 saves and will take a 2.02 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 31:7 K:BB (35.2 innings) into the second half of the season. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:53 am

    • Impresses in latest rehab start
Ray (elbow) struck out nine batters and gave up one hit and one walk over five scoreless innings in his rehab start Sunday with Single-A San Jose.

Advice: Making his ninth and perhaps final minor-league rehab appearance as he works his way back from May 2023 Tommy John surgery, Ray submitted his lengthiest and best outing yet. He built up to 74 pitches (56 strikes) in the rehab start and now owns a 4.13 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 38:4 K:BB in 24 innings over stops with San Jose, Triple-A Sacramento and the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. With Ray looking fully recovered from elbow surgery from both a workload and performance standpoint, he appears poised to return from the 60-day injured list to make his Giants debut coming out of the All-Star break. If the Giants opt to keep a five-man rotation intact rather than expanding to six, rookie Hayden Birdsong would seem to be most at risk of losing his starting spot once Ray is activated. • Clubs 19th homer
Alonso went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's loss to the Rockies.

Advice: He got the Mets on the board in the fourth inning by crushing a German Marquez two-seamer deep to left field. Alonso snapped an 11-game homer drought with the blast, and he heads into the All-Star break -- and an appearance in the Home Run Derby -- slashing .240/.319/.454 with 19 homers and 51 RBI in 95 contests. • Launches grand slam
Gelof went 1-for-5 with a grand slam Sunday against the Phillies.

Advice: Gelof's ninth-inning grand slam was the eighth and final long ball of the day for Oakland and put a rubber stamp on an 18-run outburst for the A's. It was the second consecutive game with a homer for Gelof, who has now hit seven over the past 23 games and is up to 12 on the season. Rotowire.com Sunday, 11:25 pm
    • Takes loss Sunday
Duran (5-4) allowed an unearned run on one hit without retiring a batter to take the loss Sunday versus the Giants.

Advice: Duran gave up a triple to Mike Yastrzemski to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning, and it turned into a run after Brooks Lee's relay throw ended up in the dugout. It's a tough way for Duran to take a loss, which also ended his 7.2-inning scoreless streak, but it won't hurt his ERA, which remains at 2.93 to go with a 0.98 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB through 30.2 innings. Since Duran was pitching in a tied game before giving up the run, he also will avoid taking his second blown save of the year, and his status as the Twins' primary closer is not in question. • Jhoan Duran takes loss on error in ninth
Jhoan Duran took a loss after giving up a triple to the only batter he faced Sunday against the ninth.

Advice: Opening the bottom of the ninth in a tie game, Duran gave up a well-placed 88.8 mph flyball to the right-center gap. Mike Yastrzemski tried stretching the hit into a triple, and relay man Brooks Lee threw the ball into the dugout to end the game. The run was unearned, of course. Rotoworld Sunday, 5:21 pm

    • Raisel Iglesias closes out Padres on Sunday
Raisel Iglesias picked up his 22nd save of the season on Sunday afternoon, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a three-run lead against the Padres.

Advice: Iglesias came on with a three-run lead to preserve in the ninth inning and he made sure that it stood up and the Braves went into the All-Star break on a high note. The 34-year-old right-hander got Kyle Higashioka on a swinging third strike, David Peralta on a line drive to center and Jurickson Profar on a line drive to right to end it. Iglesias heads into the All-Star break with a 2.02 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and a 31/7 K/BB ratio over 35 2/3 innings to go with 22 saves and one victory. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:50 pm

    • Turner homers in loss for Phillies
Trea Turner went 2-for-2 with a solo home run in a loss to the A’s on Sunday.

Advice: Turner was removed from the game early with the Phillies getting absolutely destroyed, but he is fully healthy heading into the break. In fact, Turner is more than just healthy, homering in eight of his last 12 games. He may have only appeared in 57 games so far this season, but the production has been elite over those games.
