      Blanco (8-3) took the loss Friday as the Astros were downed 7-2 by the Mets, surrendering six runs (three earned) on six hits -- including three home runs -- and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.

      Advice: It was a tough night for the right-hander, who served up multiple long balls for the first time since May 3 and got tagged for three for the first time in his career. Despite his struggles keeping the ball in the park, Blanco nearly escaped with his fourth straight quality start due to an Alex Bregman error, but he fell one out short and got the hook after 98 pitches (65 strikes). Blanco will take a 2.49 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 84:37 K:BB through 90.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week in Toronto. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:23 pm

    • Fans seven in Friday's loss
      Kikuchi (4-8) took the loss Friday as the Blue Jays were routed 16-5 by the Yankees, giving up four runs on four hits and a walk over five-plus innings. He struck out seven.

      Advice: The southpaw was sharp to begin the game and actually took a 3-1 lead into the top of the sixth inning, but after allowing two straight singles to open the frame, Juan Soto flipped the script with a three-run blast that chased Kikuchi from the game. Kikuchi has been tagged for 13 runs in only 11 innings over his last three starts, inflating his ERA to 4.18 with a 1.31 WHIP and 93:21 K:BB through 88.1 innings.     • Yusei Kikuchi’s night ruined by Juan Soto
      Yusei Kikuchi lasted five-plus innings on Friday against the Yankees. He allowed four earned runs, struck out seven, and walked one in a loss.

      Advice: Kikuchi was cruising to the highest degree of the word through the first five innings. He had seven punch outs, faced two batters over the minimum, and the Yankees only run came from a run-down. Then, Juan Soto clobbered a three-run home run to spoil his great night.     • Ronel Blanco can’t overcome red-hot Mets
      Ronel Blano was pulled after 5 2/3 innings after allowing six runs, three earned, on Friday against the Mets. He struck out five and walked three in a loss.

      Advice: Blanco pitched fine Friday. His three unearned runs came as a result of an Alex Bregman two-out error that allowed Jeff McNeil to sneak a ball just over the right field fence in the next at-bat. That was the Mets’ third home run of the game as Tyrone Taylor and Pete Alonso also left the yard. He still missed plenty of bats with 12 whiffs on the day and would have earned his fourth straight quality start if Bregman had fielded that ground ball cleanly. Rotoworld Friday, 7:21 pm

      Parker (5-4) took the loss against the Rays on Friday, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk with five strikeouts over five innings.

      Advice: Parker surrendered a solo home run to Jose Siri in the second inning and another run on an RBI single by Isaac Paredes in the third. He rebounded with two perfect innings but was pulled after the fifth at 92 pitches. The southpaw has completed at least five frames in 12 of 14 starts this season and now owns a 3.32 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 63:18 K:BB in 2024. He lines up for a home matchup against the Mets next week.     • Mitchell Parker strikes out five in loss to Rays
      Mitchell Parker pitched decently in Friday night’s loss to the Rays in Tampa Bay, surrendering two runs on six hits over his five innings of work.

      Advice: On the plus side, the 24-year-old southpaw racked up five strikeouts on the night while allowing just one base on balls. Parker served up a solo homer to Jose Siri in the second inning, then the Rays added another run in the third on an RBI single off the bat of Isaac Paredes. Parker got 13 swings and misses on 92 pitches in the game, posting a CSW of 28 percent. Now 5-4 on the season, he’ll look to get back on track as he carries a 3.32 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and a 63/18 K/BB ratio (78 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Mets.     • Season-high six walks in win
      Abbott (7-6) picked up the win over the Cardinals on Thursday, allowing two runs on two hits and six walks over five innings while striking out two.

      Advice: The only runs charged to Abbott on the night came on a two-run homer from Nolan Arenado in the bottom of the third, as the lefty managed to pitch his way out of trouble the rest of the time despite issuing a season-high six free passes. Abbott has now won four of his last five starts, though he finishes the month of June with 15 walks, compared to just six in May. On the positive side, he's also gone at least five innings in 11 consecutive starts and hasn't given up more than three runs in five straight. Rotowire.com Friday, 4:05 am
       
    • Disastrous outing in loss
      Mikolas (6-7) was hit with the loss against the Reds on Thursday, allowing 10 runs (nine earned) on 12 hits and one walk over 4.1 inning. He struck out one.

      Advice: Things got ugly in a hurry for Mikolas as the veteran gave up runs in each of the first five innings before finally being relieved by John King. The nine earned runs allowed easily marked a season high for the right-hander, as did the 12 hits he surrendered. Mikolas had gone at least six innings in six consecutive starts coming in, allowing three or fewer runs in five of those outings.     • Dominant in tough-luck defeat
      Sale (10-3) suffered the loss Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over seven innings against the White Sox. He struck out 11.

      Advice: Sale dominated his former team, with a first-inning homer by Luis Robert marking the only blemish to his stellar outing. However, the bats failed to provide any support for Sale, and Atlanta suffered its third shutout loss of the season with each occurring within the month of June. Following an inexplicable blip June 1 when he allowed eight runs to the hapless Athletics, Sale has rebounded over the last four games by allowing a total of six earned runs over 26 innings, giving him an ERA of 2.08 with a 0.85 WHIP and 36 strikeouts during that stretch.
