      Advice: It wasn't Montgomery's night as the lefty got pounded for five runs in the second inning after failing to retire six batters in a row, leading to his shortest outing of the campaign. He allowed a season-high two home runs in the contest and posted just one strikeout, giving him an 8:4 K:BB through his first three starts. Montgomery produced only three swinging strikes on the night and is yet to record more than four strikeouts in an outing, despite going six or more innings on two occasions.       Lugo (5-1) picked up the win Wednesday in a 6-1 victory over the Blue Jays, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out eight.

      Advice: The 34-year-old right-hander generated an impressive 35 called or swinging strikes over 101 pitches as he baffled Toronto hitters. The quality start was Lugo's sixth in seven trips to the mound, and the two-year, $30 million contract he signed in December is looking like an absolute bargain for the Royals.       Jordan Montgomery allowed six runs over three innings in a loss to the Dodgers on Wednesday.

      Advice: Montgomery had pitched well in his first two starts of the season, but was tagged for six runs against the Dodgers. Andy Pages got the scoring started with a two-run homer. Two doubles, a walk, and a base hit brought three more in to score before the end of the frame. Will Smith added a solo homer to lead off the third. Montgomery would complete the inning, but that would be it. The 31-year-old left-hander ends the day with a 5.63 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and an 8/4 K/BB ratio across 16 innings.       Steven Kwan went 3-for-5 with a triple, double, and two RBI in a 3-2 win over the Astros on Wednesday.

      Advice: After knocking a base hit in the first inning, Kwan drove in a run with a triple in the fifth. He came through in a big spot in the tenth, driving in the go-ahead run with a double. Kwan capped off his day with a game-ending diving catch in the bottom of the inning.       Neris worked around a hit to pitch a scoreless ninth inning and record the save in Wednesday's 1-0 win over the Mets.

      Advice: Shota Imanaga dominated the Mets across seven innings, and then Neris shut things down to secure his fifth save of the season. The veteran righty has pitched well since taking over closing duties from Adbert Alzolay, as Neris has allowed just one earned run over his last five appearances, lowering his season ERA to 3.27.
