      Gavin Williams (elbow) resumed throwing on Thursday.

      Advice: Guardians manager Stephen Vogt added that Williams was re-evaluated earlier and cleared to resume throwing and is on the road back to rejoining Cleveland’s starting rotation. The 24-year-old righty was shut down from throwing last week due to renewed elbow discomfort and has been on the shelf since spring training following a couple setbacks in his rehabilitation process.       Advice: Williams was cleared by doctors to restart his throwing program Wednesday, and manager Stephen Vogt said the 24-year-old righty was able to get through his throwing session Thursday without any pain.       Camilo Doval struck out a batter in a scoreless inning of work while picking up a save Thursday against the Red Sox.

      Advice: Doval is now up to six saves on the season. The right-hander didn’t allow a hit while picking up a strikeout, and he pounded the zone with 11-of-14 pitches going for strikes.       Advice: All the damage against Burnes came in the fifth inning when Oswaldo Cabrera launched a two-run home run. Despite allowing three or fewer runs for a seventh straight start, Burnes was stuck with the loss Wednesday as the Orioles offense could only manage three total hits and didn't score. While Burnes has allowed a home run in six of his seven starts this season, he owns a 2.61 ERA over 41.1 innings with 41 strikeouts -- the sixth most in the American League.       Cronenworth went 1-for-4 with a grand slam during Wednesday's 6-2 win over Cincinnati.

      Advice: Cronenworth swatted his third career grand slam in the seventh inning off reliever Fernando Cruz, breaking the 2-2 tie and giving the Padres the eventual win. Even with the mishap, Ashcraft left the game with the score knotted up at two, where it stood until Jake Cronenworth clubbed a grand slam in the seventh. Ashcraft has posted back-to-back quality starts and hasn't taken a loss since April 2. He'll look to extend that quality-start streak to six Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.
