    • Lasts 4.1 innings vs. Pittsburgh
Assad didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Pirates, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: After the Pirates scored twice in the first inning, Assad delivered 3.1 scoreless frames before he was ultimately pulled in the fifth inning. The 26-year-old Assad hasn't allowed more than one earned run in five straight starts -- he's 3-0 with a 1.70 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB across 42.1 innings this season. The Mexican-born right-hander is currently slated for a road matchup with Atlanta in his next outing. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:04 pm

    • Javier Assad lifted in fifth against Pirates
Javier Assad was lifted after allowing two runs — one earned — in 4 1/3 innings Friday against the Pirates.

Advice: Assad was pulled from a 2-2 game after giving up a single with one out in the fifth. He pitched rather well tonight in striking out four and giving up four hard-hit balls and four hits, but his pitch count was driven up by some long at-bats. While his ERA stands at 1.70, he’s completed six innings just twice. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:47 pm

    • Earns win Wednesday
Clase (2-1) earned the extra-inning win Wednesday over the Tigers, striking out one without allowing a hit or a walk in a scoreless inning.

Advice: Clase was sharp in the 10th inning despite a fielder's choice and a wild pitch, and the Guardians completed their comeback on a walk-off Brayan Rocchio single in the bottom of the frame. This outing extended Clase's scoreless streak to five innings, and he's gone 12.1 innings without giving up an earned run. The closer is 11-for-13 in save chances while pitching to a 0.47 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 20:1 K:BB through 19.1 innings on the year. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:01 am
    • Suffers loss Wednesday
Lange (0-2) allowed an unearned run on one hit to take the loss in Wednesday's 5-4, 10-inning contest against the Guardians.

Advice: After recording the final out of the ninth inning, Lange had the unenviable task of pitching the bottom of the 10th in a tie game with a runner starting on second base. The righty retired the first batter but then allowed a walk-off hit to Brayan Rocchio. There shouldn't be too much read into the loss, and Lange has pitched well all season, as he's sitting with a stellar 0.64 ERA across 14 innings. Lange should continue to see high-leverage work for the Tigers moving forward, and he could slide back into the closer role at some point if he keeps up the strong play. • Alex Lange takes loss in 10th to Guardians
After the Tigers failed to score in the top of the inning, Alex Lange took a loss in the 10th against the Guardians on Wednesday.

Advice: The Tigers really mixed things up relief-wise in this one, turning to Jason Foley for two outs in the seventh and Joey Wentz for four outs through the eighth. Wentz allowed an unearned run, narrowing Detroit’s lead to one, and Andrew Chafin, given a rare chance to close, made that go away by giving up a homer to David Fry. Lange went on to get the final out of the ninth. In the 10th, he got an out on a sac bunt and then gave up the winning single. While Foley remains the favorite for saves in Detroit, it looks like this is going to be a frustrating situation going forward. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:37 pm

    • Another perfect inning
Clase picked up the save Monday against Detroit, striking out one batter across a perfect ninth frame.

Advice: Clase turned in a third consecutive perfect outing, throwing merely nine pitches to earn his 11th save of 2024. The 26-year-old has been incredible thus far, boasting a 19:1 K:BB and a 0.49 ERA through 18.1 innings and is tied for the league lead in saves. Rotowire.com Monday, 10:54 pm
    • Tosses six shutout frames
Assad (3-0) allowed four hits and three walks over six scoreless innings Sunday, striking out four and earning a win over the Brewers.

Advice: Assad scattered baserunners throughout his start but never faced any heavy threats. He's allowed two or fewer runs in each of his first seven outings of 2024, but Sunday's performance was his first quality start since his season debut April 2. Assad dropped his season ERA to 1.66 with a 31:12 K:BB through 38 innings. He failed to factor into the decision in his previous three starts despite registering a 1.76 ERA over that span. Assad is currently in line to start in Pittsburgh next weekend. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:24 pm

    • Reaches double digits in saves
Clase picked up the save Sunday against the Angels, striking out two over a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Clase made quick work of Willie Calhoun, Brandon Drury and Matt Thaiss on Sunday, needing just 10 pitches to retire the side and pick up his 10th save of the campaign. Clase is one of five closers in double figures in the saves category and has walked just one batter across 17.1 innings of action. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:07 pm
    • Javier Assad fires six scoreless to defeat Brewers
Javier Assad delivered a strong performance in Sunday afternoon’s victory over the Brewers, scattering just four hits over six innings of shutout baseball.

Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander struck out four batters while issuing three free passes in the ballgame. The Brewers never really mounted a serious scoring threat against him, and he was able to cruise to an easy victory in this one. Assad got seven swings and misses on 94 pitches on the afternoon, registering a CSW of 29 percent. Now 3-0 on the season, Assad sports an impressive 1.66 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 31/12 K/BB ratio over 38 innings through his first seven starts on the season. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling when he takes on the Pirates in Pittsburgh on Saturday. Rotoworld Sunday, 2:42 pm
