• Recalled from Triple-A
The Twins recalled Alcala from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Advice: He's taking the roster and bullpen spot vacated by Caleb Boushley, who was sent back to St. Paul on Thursday. Alcala never deserved to be optioned in the first place, as he has given up just one unearned run on three hits through six appearances this season. Rotowire.com 28 minutes ago
  • Cleared to resume throwing
Smyly (hip) has been cleared to begin playing catch, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Smyly hasn't pitched in nearly two weeks because of a right hip impingement but is ready to begin ramping things back up. The left-hander seems likely to require a rehab assignment before rejoining the Cubs' bullpen. Rotowire.com 30 minutes ago

  • Twins call up Jorge Alcala from Triple-A
Twins recalled RHP Jorge Alcala from Triple-A St. Paul.

Advice: Alcala is back with Minnesota after he was sent down to Triple-A in mid-April. The 28-year-old has been stellar with the Twins this season as he holds a 0.00 ERA with a 9/3 K/BB ratio across 8 1/3 innings of work. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago
  • Nabs extra-inning win
Smith (1-0) picked up the win Thursday, striking out two in a perfect 10th inning during the Marlins' victory over the Rockies.

Advice: Brenton Doyle led off the frame with a sacrifice bunt to put the phantom runner on third base, but Smith fanned Ryan McMahon and Elehuris Montero to deny Colorado a run. The right-hander then got rewarded when Miami walked it off in the bottom of the inning. Smith has seen little high-leverage work this season, adding only one hold to his ledger in 14 appearances, and he sports a 3.31 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 12:7 K:BB through 16.1 innings. • Earns first big-league win
Young (1-0) earned the win in Thursday's extra-innings victory over the Cubs, allowing one unearned run on two hits and a walk. He struck out one.

Advice: Young gave up a leadoff double to Nick Madrigal in the 11th inning, allowing the free runner to score, but he'd hold the Cubs there thanks in large part to Starling Marte, who threw Madrigal out at the plate after he tried to score on a two-out single. The Mets would then walk it off in the bottom half of the frame on Francisco Lindor's two-run double. It's the first win in the majors for Young, who was also making his Mets debut. The left-hander was solid in limited action with Atlanta last season, allowing one earned run while striking out 11 in 8.1 innings. With Brooks Raley's (elbow) return uncertain, Young could potentially carve out a role in New York's bullpen with Jake Diekman being their only other left-handed option. Rotowire.com Today, 7:59 am
  • Makes rehab start
Pivetta (elbow) allowed four runs on three hits and four walks while striking out five over three-plus innings for Triple-A Worcester on Thursday.

Advice: Pivetta threw 62 pitches in the first and possibly only start while on a rehab assignment. He ran into immediate trouble, walking the first two batters of the game then giving up three straight singles. He settled in after that, retiring the next nine batters, before he was pulled following another two walks to lead off the fourth inning. "Repertoire felt good, just wasn't throwing a ton of strikes," Pivetta told Tommy Cassell of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. "I have some mechanical adjustments to work on but we'll be fine." Red Sox manager Alex Cora previously indicated Pivetta would need just one rehab start, and if that's the case, the right-hander is on schedule for next week's two-game set against Atlanta on Tuesday or Wednesday. • Earns sixth hold
Rogers picked up a hold by pitching a perfect eighth inning in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: As expected, Rogers has served as a setup man for the Giants this year. He's pitched fairly well with a 2.63 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 9:0 K:BB over 13.2 innings while adding six holds in 15 appearances. He's yet to pick up a save, as Camilo Doval has yet to miss out on a save opportunity. Rogers' lack of a high strikeout rate limits his appeal in most fantasy formats, though it's encouraging that the submariner has avoided issuing free passes so far. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:24 pm
  • Collects third win
Walker (3-2) allowed a hit and struck out one without walking a batter in a scoreless inning to earn the win Thursday over the Red Sox.

Advice: Walker is on a seven-inning scoreless streak, and he's racked up an 11:3 K:BB with two wins and two holds in that span. The right-hander is putting together a solid season in a versatile role, pitching to a 2.65 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 21:4 K:BB over 17 innings. He's added three holds, and while he doesn't see steady high-leverage usage, he's displayed the ability to limit baserunners and protect leads. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:18 pm
  • Effective in short start
Winckowski allowed one run on two hits and two walks without striking out any batters over 4.1 innings in a no-decision against San Francisco on Thursday.

Advice: Winckowski's short outing can be explained by the fact that he began the campaign in a relief role and isn't stretched out to a starter's full workload. Still, the right-hander was able to give Boston 4.1 useful frames Thursday, with the only run against him coming on a third-inning Mike Yastrzemski solo homer. With Nick Pivetta (elbow) nearing a return to the rotation and and Brayan Bello (lat) not far behind, Winckowski could be moving back to a bullpen role relatively soon. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:33 pm
