• Not in Wednesday's lineup
Singleton is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Singleton has taken over as the Astros' regular first baseman since Jose Abreu's demotion, but he'll begin this one on the bench. Mauricio Dubon is getting the start at first base Wednesday. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago

  • Justin Turner comes off bench in return
Justin Turner returned to action Wednesday, finishing 0-for-2 off the bench against the Orioles.

Advice: Turner missed the previous two games because of illness. He’ll now have another day to recuperate, as the Jays don’t play Thursday. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago

  • Exits game with bruised knee
Santander was removed from Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays due to a bruised knee, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Santander banged up his knee when he collided with the outfield wall and then aggravated it on a double and a slide in the eighth inning before being lifted in the ninth. It doesn't sound like a big concern, and it's possible the Orioles' scheduled off day will be enough rest for Santander. Consider him day-to-day. Rotowire.com 18 minutes ago

  • Anthony Santander leaves game with bruised knee
Anthony Santander was pulled from Wednesday’s contest against the Blue Jays due to a bruised knee.

Advice: Santander initially suffered the injury when he crashed into the outfield wall in the third inning on Wednesday. He then aggravated if further while sliding into second base during the eighth inning. It doesn’t sound like it’s anything that should require a trip to the injured list, but there’s a chance that the 29-year-old slugger will be held out of the lineup an extra day or two to be on the safe side. • Luis Arraez not in Padres’ lineup on Wednesday
Luis Arraez is not in the Padres’ starting lineup for Wednesday’s tilt against the Rockies.

Advice: It looks to be nothing more than a routine day of rest for the two-time defending batting champion. Manny Machado will function as the team’s designated hitter on Wednesday while Donovan Solano will draw a start at third base and bat sixth against left-hander Austin Gomber and the Rockies. Jurickson Profar will slide up to the leadoff spot in the Padres’ lineup. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago

  • Back in action Wednesday
Harper (migraine) will start at first base and bat third in Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Advice: Harper will make his return to the lineup after sitting out Tuesday's 4-0 win with what was apparently a minor migraine. Alec Bohm filled in at first base but will move back to his usual post at third base Wednesday to accommodate Harper. Rotowire.com Today, 12:11 pm

  • Five innings on defense Tuesday
Diaz (calf) started at third base and played five innings in Triple-A Las Vegas' win over El Paso on Tuesday, going 1-for-3 with an RBI single.

Advice: Diaz picked up the first hit of his three-game rehab stint on his final at-bat of the evening, and he took another step in the right direction by logging five frames on defense for the second straight game. The veteran is likely to continue taking a day off between appearances for the moment as his ramp-up following a long layoff continues. Rotowire.com Today, 11:58 am

  • Gets third straight start
Cave will start in right field and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Padres, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Advice: Cave will start in right field for the Rockies' third straight matchup with a right-handed starting pitcher and looks to have supplanted Sean Bouchard as the primary option at that position. Despite the uptick in playing time, Cave will likely soon be headed for a reserve role with Kris Bryant (back) trending toward a return from the 10-day injured list as soon as this weekend. • Goodman, Bouchard again sitting for Rockies
Hunter Goodman and Sean Bouchard are both on the bench for a third straight game Wednesday against the Padres.

Advice: The Rockies won the first two games of the series with Elehuris Montero at first and Jake Cave in right, so they’re not changing anything today. The handling of Goodman, one of the team’s best prospects, has been bizarre; he’s started just six of 19 games since his callup. One imagines he’ll be sent down soon. Bouchard, who has 160 points of OPS on Cave, had started seven straight games before taking a seat Monday. Rotoworld Today, 10:38 am
