    • Out against lefty
Varsho is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: With Pittsburgh sending southpaw Bailey Falter to the mound, the lefty-hitting Varsho will retreat to the bench. Davis Schneider will move to left field and bat leadoff while Kevin Kiermaier and George Springer round out Toronto's outfield. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:09 pm

    • Earns seventh win
Rodon (7-2) picked up the win over the Angels on Thursday, allowing three runs on three hits and one walk over six-plus innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Rodon ran through the Angels' lineup for most of the night, surrendering one run over the first six frames while producing five 1-2-3 innings. However, the veteran lefty would run into trouble in the seventh after allowing the first three batters to reach, paving the way for Ian Hamilton to take over in relief. Rodon has won each of his last five starts, posting a 26:6 K:BB over that stretch. He's also logged quality starts in five straight outings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:22 am
    • Goes deep Thursday
Greene went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk Thursday in a 5-0 victory versus the Red Sox.

Advice: Greene launched a two-run shot in the eighth inning to double Detroit's lead. The long ball snapped a 19-game homer drought that extended back to May 6. Greene has nonetheless gone deep 10 times this season, so he's already one homer away from matching the 11 he hit over 416 plate appearances last year. Rotowire.com Thursday, 10:54 pm
    • Carlos Rodón allows three over six in win over Angels
Carlos Rodón gave up three runs over six innings to pick up a win Thursday over the Angels.

Advice: Rodón allowed just one run over the first six innings, but a pair of runs were charged to him in the seventh to turn an excellent start into a solid if unspectacular effort. The southpaw struck out five and walked one, and he’s still the owner of a 3.09 effort for his troubles in 2024. Rodón will get another chance to pitch Wednesday against the Twins. • Riley Greene breaks HR drought against Red Sox
Riley Greene homered and walked in a victory over the Red Sox on Thursday.

Advice: That was the first homer for Greene since May 6. It was a two-run shot off Chris Martin that doubled the Tigers’ lead to 4-0. After a great April the 23-year-old has scuffled considerably in May, but there’s no denying that Greene has the talent to be an upper-echelon fantasy contributor. Rotoworld Thursday, 7:02 pm
    • Aiming to return Tuesday
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Thursday that Lowe (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham this weekend and hopes to be activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday versus the Marlins, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: Last week, Lowe made his second trip to the IL this season with a right oblique strain. The strain was deemed mild, allowing him to resume baseball activities ahead of this weekend's rehab assignment. If Lowe does indeed return Tuesday, he will have missed just a little more than the minimum 10 days. Rotowire.com Thursday, 8:23 am

    • Josh Lowe could return to Rays lineup on Tuesday
Josh Lowe (oblique) will play for Triple-A Durham this weekend as he nears a return.

Advice: The plan is for Lowe to play all weekend with Durham and, if all feels good, he could return to the Tampa Bay lineup on Tuesday against the Marlins. Lowe has now had three setbacks this season with his oblique, but the last imaging he had showed no major issues and both he and the Rays have expressed optimism that he will return next week. • Allows one run in no-decision
Verlander did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's loss to the Mariners, allowing one run on three hits and one walk over seven innings while striking out nine.

Advice: Verlander got off to a great start, hurling 1-2-3 innings in three of the first four frames before surrendering a solo homer to Dominic Canzone in the fifth. The veteran right-hander would only allow a walk from that point on and managed to go seven innings for the third time in his last six starts. Verlander also matched his season high with nine strikeouts, which he also recorded in his previous start against the Athletics. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:12 am

    • Justin Verlander strikes out nine in no-decision
Justin Verlander allowed one run with nine strikeouts over seven innings in a no-decision against the Mariners on Wednesday.

Advice: Verlander scattered three hits and one walk, striking out nine batters for the second consecutive start. The only run the Mariners would score on him came on a solo homer by Dominic Canzone in the fifth inning. The 41-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 3.26 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and a 44/15 K/BB ratio across 47 innings. He’ll take on the Cardinals in Houston on Monday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:24 pm
