    • Stymies Chicago
Gibson (5-2) earned the win Friday over the Cubs, allowing just two hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings. He struck out six.

Advice: Gibson was excellent Friday, turning in a season-high seven innings in his first scoreless outing of the year. The 36-year-old Gibson has been solid of late, working to a 2.19 ERA over his last five starts. Overall, his ERA is down to 3.44 on the campaign with a 1.20 WHIP and 73:31 K:BB across 83.2 innings. Gibson's currently scheduled to face the Marlins on the road in his next start. Rotowire.com 4 minutes ago

    • Tossing live BP on Monday
Ferrer (shoulder) will throw live batting practice Monday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Ferrer will face batters for the first time since suffering a shoulder strain back in March. If all goes well Monday, the logical next step would be a rehab assignment. The 24-year-old should be expected to return in late June or early July. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago

    • Will throw multiple bullpens
Minter (hip) will throw multiple bullpen sessions before Atlanta decides whether to send him out on a rehab assignment or activate him, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The initial feeling when Minter landed on the injured list with left hip inflammation late last month was that he would probably need just a minimum absence. It's taken longer than that, although he hasn't suffered a setback. Minter boasts a 2.95 ERA and 23:6 K:BB over 21.1 frames this season. Rotowire.com 22 minutes ago

    • Cade Cavalli (elbow) to throw live bullpen session
Cade Cavalli (elbow) is scheduled to throw a live bullpen session on Saturday.

Advice: If all goes well with that session, it’s possible that the 25-year-old hurler could be cleared to begin a minor league rehab assignment. He’s going to need several starts there before he’s an option to join the Nationals’ rotation, but he’s certainly taking tangible strides in that direction. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago

    • Slated for live batting practice
Cavalli (elbow) will throw a live batting practice session Saturday, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: The Nationals pulled Cavalli off his rehab assignment earlier this month, although they referred to it as merely giving the pitcher a break rather than it being a setback as he comes back from Tommy John surgery. Since he's facing hitters again, the righty figures to resume his rehab assignment soon. He could be an option for the Nationals around midseason. Rotowire.com 28 minutes ago

    • Starting rehab assignment Sunday
Kremer (triceps) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Kremer is slated to throw around four innings in what will be his first outing since he landed on the 15-day injured list three weeks ago with a right triceps strain. It could be the only rehab start he needs before rejoining the Orioles' rotation. If that's the case, he would be set up to start next weekend in Houston. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago

    • Dean Kremer to make rehab start on Sunday
Dean Kremer (triceps) will make a minor league rehab start at Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday.

Advice: Orioles’ manager Brandon Hyde told reporters on Friday that Kremer will work around four innings in that outing. It’s likely that he’ll need a second rehab start after that one before he’s ready to return to the Orioles’ rotation. In the meantime, it should give Cade Povich at least another week to establish himself in the O’s rotation. Rotoworld 42 minutes ago

    • Playing catch Friday
Romano (elbow) threw from 90 feet Friday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Romano resumed his throwing program Monday and has already been stretched out to 90 feet. The 31-year-old has been brought along slowly since being placed on the 15-day IL with elbow inflammation and it's unclear if he'll require a rehab assignment at this point. Yimi Garcia has earned three saves since Romano went down and should continue to operate as Toronto's temporary closer. Rotowire.com 56 minutes ago

    • Likely to pitch Saturday
Francis is a candidate to start or serve in a bulk relief role Saturday against the Guardians, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: The Blue Jays are declining to name a starter at this point, but Francis is likely to be their primary pitcher, whether it's as a traditional starter or a bulk reliever. Francis went four scoreless innings in a start his last time out but holds a 7.36 ERA over seven appearances (three starts) this season. Rotowire.com 57 minutes ago
