    • Seth Lugo wears down late against Guardians
      Seth Lugo allowed five runs on six hits in six innings in a no-decision against the Guardians.

      Advice: Lugo started the game with three scoreless innings before allowing three runs in the fourth. However, he settled down and threw two more scoreless innings but the Royals brought him back out for the seventh where he allowed a single and a two-run home runs before being pulled from the game. Lugo posted a 27 percent CSW on the night and induced eight whiffs on 46 swings. He doesn’t miss many bats, but he has been tremendous this season with a 2.16 ERA.     • Hit hard in no-decision
      Verlander did not factor into the decision in Monday's 2-1 win over the Cardinals, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts over five innings.

      Advice: Verlander got into immediate trouble, allowing solo home runs to Alec Burleson and Nolan Gorman in the first inning. He labored through the next four, surrendering a total of eight hard-hit balls, including another homer by Gorman, and leaving with a 4-2 deficit. Verlander was coming off back-to-back nine-strikeout efforts, but he has now failed to reach six innings in four of his nine starts this season. In those nine games, Verlander has posted a 3.63 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 48:17 K:BB. He tentatively lines up for a road matchup against the Angels on Sunday. Rotowire.com Monday, 8:57 pm
       
    • Verlander allows four runs in no-decision Monday
      Justin Verlander allowed four runs in five innings and got a no-decision in the Astros’ 7-4 victory over the Cardinals on Monday.



      Advice: Verlander gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out four. He allowed three home runs and has now allowed 11 home runs in 52 innings (1.90 HR/9) this season. That’s a significant uptick from the 18 home runs he allowed in 162 innings (1.00 HR/9) last year. Also troubling is Verlander’s 23 percent ground ball percentage, which would be a career-low. While his ERA is 3.63 on the season, his xFIP is over full run higher at 4.70. Verlander has benefitted from an 86 percent left on base percentage, which has helped drive his ERA down but is unlikely to last all year. The 41-year-old right-hander is set to face the Angels on the road this weekend.

    • Strikes out six in no-decision
      Skubal did not factor into the decision in Monday's 2-1 win over the Rangers, allowing one run on seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts over six innings.

      Advice: Skubal surrendered a leadoff home run to Marcus Semien in the first inning but held the Rangers in check over the next five and left the mound in a 1-1 tie. Skubal allowed at least one baserunner in each inning, but he was still able to earn a quality start despite not having his best stuff. Through 12 starts, Skubal, who has not walked more than two batters in any game this season, has posted a sparkling 1.97 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 86:13 K:BB and tentatively lines up for a home matchup against the Brewers on Sunday.     • Skubal strikes out six in no-decision Monday
      Tarik Skubal allowed one run in six innings and got a no-decision in the Tigers’ 2-1 victory over the Rangers on Monday.

      Advice: Skubal gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out six. He managed to earn a quality start for the ninth time in 12 starts this season. Skubal allowed a leadoff home run to Marcus Semien, but that was the only run the Rangers could muster against him. His ERA is now 1.97 as he continues to push for the AL Cy Young award.     • Surrenders five runs Saturday
      Greene allowed five runs on three hits and five walks while striking out five batters over six innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Saturday.

      Advice: Greene was staked to an early 4-0 lead but gave it all back when he served up a grand slam to Seiya Suzuki in the bottom of the second inning. All three runners on base for the big homer had reached via walk, so Greene's wildness played a big part in his poor stat line. This was the second time the right-hander has walked five batters in a contest this season, and his 30 free passes on the campaign are fourth-most in the majors.     • Returns from bruised elbow
      Megill (elbow) threw a perfect inning while striking out three Saturday against the White Sox.

      Advice: Megill appeared in the seventh inning in a tied game. Megill was struck on the right elbow by a comebacker in Tuesday's loss to the Cubs. X-rays came back negative, but he still needed a few days off. It looks like he's back to full speed and should step back into the closer mix despite appearing earlier in the game Saturday.     • Greene gives up grand slam, five runs vs. Cubs
      Hunter Greene allowed five runs in six innings and got a no-decision against the Cubs on Saturday.



      Advice: Greene gave up three hits, walked five and struck out five. He had won two of his previous three starts and hadn’t allowed more than three earned runs in his last six starts. Greene only allowed three hits but one of them was a grand slam off the bat of Seiya Suzuki. His ERA is up to 3.44 on the season now. He’ll get another chance against the Cubs at home next week.

    • Takes fifth loss
      Kopech (1-5) allowed one run (none earned) on one hit and one walk while striking out two to take the loss Saturday against the Brewers.

      Advice: Kopech entered the game in the 10th inning with the game tied at three. He intentionally walked the first batter he faced to put a pair of runners on base before throwing a wild pitch and allowing an infield single to take the loss. Kopech has had an inconsistent season, though he did turn in scoreless efforts in eight of his nine appearances in May. The White Sox haven't converted a save since May 15, but he should be considered the team's primary closer for the time being. Rotowire.com Saturday, 10:02 pm
