    • Dominant in tough-luck defeat
Sale (10-3) suffered the loss Thursday, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over seven innings against the White Sox. He struck out 11.

Advice: Sale dominated his former team, with a first-inning homer by Luis Robert marking the only blemish to his stellar outing. However, the bats failed to provide any support for Sale, and Atlanta suffered its third shutout loss of the season with each occurring within the month of June. Following an inexplicable blip June 1 when he allowed eight runs to the hapless Athletics, Sale has rebounded over the last four games by allowing a total of six earned runs over 26 innings, giving him an ERA of 2.08 with a 0.85 WHIP and 36 strikeouts during that stretch. His next start is tentatively scheduled to take place in the middle of next week, when Atlanta plays host to the Giants. Rotowire.com Today, 12:06 am

    • Accumulates six RBI in victory
Springer went 3-for-3 with a pair of three-run home runs in Thursday's 9-2 win against the Yankees.

Advice: Springer punished Yankees starter Carlos Rodon for two three-run homers in the first two innings to set the Blue Jays up for a big victory. The six RBI were a single-game career high for the veteran outfielder, who came into the contest with two home runs and six RBI over his previous 25 games combined. Springer batted an awful .137 through his first 21 contests of June but has gone 6-for-8 with three long balls and eight runs batted in over his past two games. • Remains white hot
Buxton went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and two additional runs scored Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Buxton posted a three-hit day with a dinger for the second time in three games. The centerfielder has now collected multiple hits in six of his last 16 starts, batting .355 (22-for-62) with nine extra-base hits including four homers, 14 RBI, 14 runs scored and three steals during that stretch. George Springer went 3-for-6 with a double, two home runs and six RBI against the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: Springer took Carlos Rodon deep in each of the first two innings. He now has eight home runs on the season. Springer has certainly struggled this year with a .205 average and .618 OPS with 23 RBI on the year.

    • Westburg hits two-run double in route over Rangers
Jordan Westburg went 1-for-4 with a two-run double against the Rangers on Thursday.

Advice: Westburg was thrown out at third trying to stretch a double into a triple, but still drove in two runs to give the Orioles a 3-0 lead in the first inning. The 25-year-old infielder is hitting .286 with an .854 OPS and 48 RBI on the season.

    • Sale strikes out 11 in hard-luck loss to former team
Chris Sale struck out 11 over seven innings of one-run baseball, but picked up a loss Thursday as the White Sox beat Atlanta 1-0 in the first game of a doubleheader.

Advice: Sale was facing his former team in the White Sox, and while he gets credited for the loss, it was a dominant effort for the 35-year-old. The only blemish came when he gave up a solo homer to Luis Robert Jr. in the first, and he allowed just three more hits while missing plenty of bats. It’s the third time Sale has picked up double-digit strikeouts — the 11 are a season high — and he’s now the owner of a 2.79 ERA and 118/17 K/BB over 15 starts. He gets the Giants next. • Byron Buxton blasts bomb in blowout
Byron Buxton hit a three-run homer while going 3-for-4 in a 13-6 rout of the Diamondbacks on Thursday.

Advice: Buxton also scored three runs. The three-run blast came off Scott McGough and gave Minnesota a 11-0 lead and it travelled 456 feet. The outfielder is starting to pick things up offensively, and he’s picked up three hits in two of his last three games while improving his slash to .261/.311/.449. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:45 pm
    • Max Scherzer to start on Friday against Orioles
Max Scherzer (thumb) will start on Friday against the Orioles.

Advice: Scherzer came out of his season debut on Sunday with some relatively minor right thumb soreness, but it sounds like he’s ready to roll for his next outing on Friday evening at Camden Yards. The 39-year-old veteran was sharp last weekend in his season debut, striking out four over five scoreless frames against the Royals. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:59 pm
    • Manny Machado has two hits in victory over Nats
Manny Machado went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and a run scored as the Padres bested the Nationals on Wednesday afternoon in San Diego.

Advice: Machado led off the eighth inning with a single off of Tanner Rainey, then rode home on Kyle Higashioka’s grand slam. With his two-hit attack on Wednesday, the 31-year-old superstar third baseman is now hitting .264/.316/.390 on the season to go along with eight homers, 40 RBI and five stolen bases.
