      Mountcastle went 2-for-4 with a home run, two total RBI and an additional run scored in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Yankees.

      Advice: Mountcastle got the Orioles on the board in the third inning with a solo shot off Carlos Rodon, tying the game 1-1. He'd add a second RBI with a base hit in the fifth, extending the lead to 4-1, before scoring on a Jordan Westburg triple. It was a nice finish to the series for the 27-year-old Mountcastle, who'd gone 0-for-12 in the first three games against New York.       Gavin Williams (elbow) resumed throwing on Thursday.

      Advice: Guardians manager Stephen Vogt added that Williams was re-evaluated earlier and cleared to resume throwing and is on the road back to rejoining Cleveland’s starting rotation. The 24-year-old righty was shut down from throwing last week due to renewed elbow discomfort and has been on the shelf since spring training following a couple setbacks in his rehabilitation process.     • Two doubles, four RBI off the bench
      Lindor (illness) went 2-for-3 with a pair of two-run doubles and a run scored in Thursday's 7-6 extra-innings win over the Cubs.

      Advice: Lindor was held out of the lineup Thursday after departing Wednesday's contest with an illness. However, he'd come off the bench as a pinch hitter for Joey Wendle in the sixth inning, pulling a two-run double to cut the Mets' deficit to 5-4. Lindor would then deliver his biggest hit so far this season in the 11th, doubling down the left-field line to drive in two more and give New York a 7-6 walk-off victory. Lindor's struggles early this year have been well documented, though he's starting to show signs of turning things around at the plate -- the 30-year-old shortstop's gone 9-for-29 with three doubles and three home runs in his last eight contests.       Williams (elbow) resumed throwing Thursday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Williams was cleared by doctors to restart his throwing program Wednesday, and manager Stephen Vogt said the 24-year-old righty was able to get through his throwing session Thursday without any pain.       Edward Cabrera allowed four runs in four innings while fanning nine against the Rockies on Thursday.

      Advice: Cabrera pitched better than this line suggests, but a three-run homer by Jacob Stallings turned a strong outing into a mediocre one. The right-hander did have command issues, however, as he walked four and threw 56-of-91 pitches for strikes. Still, an encouraging outing that showed off the 26-year-old’s swing-and-miss potential.     • Francisco Lindor hits game-winning double vs. Cubs
      Francisco Lindor drove in four runs off the bench including a game-winning two-run double in the 10th to give the Mets a 7-6 win over the Cubs on Thursday.

      Advice: Lindor didn’t start Thursday’s game, but he finished it literally and figuratively. The shortstop doubled home a pair of runs in the sixth, and in the 10th, he turned a 6-5 deficit into a 7-6 victory when he plated a pair with a two-bagger in the 10th to give the Mets the win. It’s one of the best games of the season for Lindor, as even with the strong outing he’s slashing a disappointing .207/.287/.380 in the first month-plus.     • Ryan Mountcastle’s homer helps O’s beat Yankees
      Ryan Mountcastle went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in a 7-2 win for the Orioles over the Yankees on Thursday.

      Advice: Mountcastle tied the game at 1-1 with his solo homer off Carlos Rodón in the third inning. That’s the fifth homer of the year, and his RBI single in the fifth brings that total to 16. It’s easy to forget about the 27-year-old because of all the star power in Baltimore, but Mountcastle is no slouch, and he’s slashing .290/.345/.495 to prove it. Rotoworld Today, 2:05 pm
       
    • Report: Paul Skenes starting Sunday at Triple-A
      MLP Pipeline’s Jonathan Mayo reports Paul Skenes will make his next start on Sunday for Triple-A Indianapolis.

      Advice: There was some social media buzz that Skenes could get the call this weekend to join Pittsburgh’s starting rotation, but that doesn’t appear to be in the cards. The 21-year-old top pitching prospect has reeled off six dominant outings at Triple-A Indianapolis to open the year, posting a surreal 0.39 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 41/6 K/BB ratio across 23 innings of work.       Cabrera didn't factor into Thursday's decision against the Rockies, allowing four runs on three hits and four walks while striking out nine over four innings.

      Advice: Three of the Rockies' four runs against Cabrera came on a Jacob Stallings homer in the second inning. Cabrera had the strikeout pitch working Thursday, though his command remained inconsistent, as he'd eventually need 91 pitches to record 12 outs. Cabrera's now been held to fewer than five innings in consecutive starts. His ERA is up to 6.05 with a 1.50 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB through his first four starts (19.1 innings).
