    • X-rays on hand negative
X-rays on Arenado's right hand game back negative after he was hit by a pitch during Thursday's win over Pittsburgh, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Arenado struck out swinging on a pitch that hit him in the hand during the eighth inning. He immediately headed back into the Cardinals' clubhouse to get checked out, but manager Oliver Marmol said Arenado simply suffered a bone bruise and is considered day-to-day. The 33-year-old is slashing .273/.340/.386 with a home run and five RBI since the beginning of June. Rotowire.com Thursday, 2:28 pm
    • Nolan Arenado leaves game after being hit by pitch
Nolan Arenado made an early exit from Thursday’s game against the Pirates after being hit by a pitch.

Advice: Arenado was hit by a pitch on the right hand while striking out in the bottom of the eighth inning and appeared to leave the contest afterwards. However, it’s difficult to confirm since he was in the lineup at designated hitter in this one. There should be an update on his status. He was 0-for-4 with a strikeout prior to leaving. • Keibert Ruiz gets rare day off for Nationals
Keibert Ruiz is out of the Nationals lineup for the first time since June 1 in Thursday’s matinee against the Tigers.

Advice: Drew Millas will catch. Ruiz had DH’d twice in the last two weeks, but not today. While Ruiz did hit a huge three-run homer against the Braves on Sunday, he’s batting just .200/.236/.294 for the season. Rotoworld Thursday, 7:36 am

    • Getting rest Thursday
Ruiz is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: He'll be getting some rest for the Thursday afternoon contest after he caught all nine innings of Wednesday's 7-5 win while going 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Drew Millas will get a turn behind the plate while Ruiz hits the bench. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:36 am

    • Getting looks at third base
Caballero went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Wednesday against the Cubs.

Advice: He has lost some playing time since the return of Taylor Walls but has still started four of the last six games. Caballero has made starts at second base, third base and shortstop and looks set to settle into a utility role for the Rays. The 27-year-old has also been productive of late, hitting two home runs and swiping three bags across his last 10 appearances. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:51 am

    • Swipes 13th bag
Volpe went 2-for-5 with a run and a stolen base Wednesday against Kansas City in an 11-5 victory.

Advice: Volpe led off the game with a single and then stole second base before later coming around to score. The theft was his 13th of the campaign, pushing him past the halfway point as he seeks to surpass last season's total of 24 steals. Volpe has reached base at a much higher clip this season -- he's currently posting a .335 OBP compared to last year's .283 mark. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:56 pm
    • Tallies three hits Wednesday
Arenado went 3-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI in a 4-2 win against the Pirates on Wednesday.

Advice: Among Arenado's three hits was a third-inning RBI double that was St. Louis' only extra-base hit of the contest. The veteran third baseman batted .167 over his first seven contests in June but has perked up since, putting together a four-game hitting streak during which he has gone 8-for-16. The hot stretch has improved his season slash line to .264/.320/.386. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:00 pm
    • Homers off bench Wednesday
Robert hit a solo home run in his lone at-bat in Wednesday's 2-1 extra-inning loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Robert was able to extend the contest with his game-tying blast in the ninth inning. The outfielder has four homers over eight games since he returned from a hip injury, but he's added just one other hit while posting a 3:13 BB:K in that span. He's up to six homers on the year with a .196/.250/.554 slash line through 60 plate appearances. Robert is still seeing steady rest given his lengthy injury history, though his power is a welcome addition to a fairly punchless lineup -- he already has the fourth most homers among White Sox batters this year. • Luis Robert Jr. slugs game-tying homer off the bench
Luis Robert Jr. went 1-for-1 with a solo homer against the Mariners on Wednesday.

Advice: Robert Jr. was on the bench for this one and entered the game as a pinch-hitter to lead off the top of the ninth. With the White Sox trailing by one run, he took Mike Baumann deep to tie things up. The 26-year-old outfielder is slashing .196/.250/.554 with six homers, nine RBI, and one steal across 60 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:22 pm
