    Pasquantino went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI and a double in Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Padres.

    Advice: Pasquantino twice gave the Royals a lead, first with a first-inning homer and then with an RBI single in the third, but that was the extent of the team's run production. The first baseman is heating up with three straight multi-hit efforts. He's gone 7-for-15 with four extra-base hits and six RBI in that span after batting just .148 over a 16-game stretch with no multi-hit performances.     Manaea (3-2) took the loss to the Diamondbacks on Saturday, allowing six runs (five earned) on six hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts over 5.2 innings.

    Advice: Manaea tossed two scoreless frames before Christian Walker hit a grand slam in the third inning and then surrendered two more runs and exited with two outs in the sixth . The 10 strikeouts were a season high for Manaea, and it was the first outing in which he has allowed more than three earned runs since April 13.     Vientos went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in a 10-5 loss to the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

    Advice: Vientos hit a solo homer off Slade Cecconi in the fifth inning then singled and scored a run in the ninth. After posting three hits on Friday, Vientos followed it up with another multi-hit effort that included his third home run in his past eight games. With Brett Baty being optioned to Triple-A Syracuse, it appears Vientos will have a chance to stake his claim at third base for the Mets.     Alonso went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 10-5 loss to the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

    Advice: Alonso doubled in the first then hit a two-run home run in the ninth off Brandon Hughes. While the game was out of reach, the homer was Alonso's 13th of the year and resulted in his third multi-hit effort in his past nine games.     McCarthy went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs scored in a 10-5 win over the Mets on Saturday.

    Advice: McCarthy singled, stole two bases then scored on a Christian Walker grand slam in the third inning and later singled and scored in the eighth. McCarthy was a late addition to the lineup when Lourdes Gurriel (undisclosed) was scratched and made the most of a rare opportunity to face a left-handed starter despite now hitting 11-for-25 against lefties on the season.   • Framber Valdez spins seven strong in win over MIN
    Framber Valdez gave up just one hit on two runs while working seven innings to get a win Saturday against the Twins.

    Advice: Valdez did issue two walks, but he was able to keep the self-inflicted damage to a low roar while striking out four. The southpaw ha gone seven innings in three of his last five starts, and he hasn’t allowed more than two runs in any of those outings.   • Pasquantino drives in three with homer in loss
    Vinnie Pasquantino homered and drove in three runs in a loss for the Royals to the Padres on Saturday.

    Advice: Pasquantino hit a two-run shot off Randy Vasquez in the first inning to give Kansas City a 2-1 lead, and he gave the Royals another lead with an RBI single two innings later. The 26-year-old has driven home 39 runs over KC’s 60 games, and the homer was his seventh. The .242 average leaves a bit to be desired, but Pasquantino is capable of helping in several categories with his left-handed bat, as evidenced by this showing Saturday.   • Has hand swelling
    Young is day-to-day with swelling in his throwing hand, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports Saturday.

    Advice: The swelling occurred during early portions of Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Guardians and Young opted to report it to a team trainer during a pitching change in the sixth inning, resulting in his removal from the game.
