      Advice: Ryan surrendered six hits, including a leadoff homer to Anthony Volpe, and was simply out-dueled by Yankees starter Clarke Schmidt, who reeled off eight shutout frames against Minnesota’s lineup. He finished with five strikeouts and only handed out one free pass.       Advice: Stott has started 39 of the team’s 44 games so far this season, so this is just a routine day off. Edmundo Sosa will start at shortstop and bat eight while Whit Merrifield will play second base. Since Trea Turner went down with an injury, Merrifield has gotten a lot more playing time, but he’s hitting just .156 in 10 games in May, so there hasn’t been much to write home about.       Advice: The catcher has been out since Opening Day after suffering an oblique strain, and Atlanta has taken things slowly with him so far. Murphy now appears to be in the final stages of his recovery, but given the amount of time he's missed, his rehab assignment could last more than just a few days.     • Blanks Nats for fourth win
      Crochet (4-4) picked up the win in Wednesday's 2-0 victory over the Nationals, giving up three hits and three walks over five scoreless innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: The left-hander wasn't exactly efficient, tossing only 56 of 89 pitches for strikes, but Crochet lasted long enough to qualify for the win. After a rough stretch in April, the 24-year-old has allowed only three runs over his last three starts (1.59 ERA) with a stellar 24:1 K:BB in 17 innings.
