    • Steven Matz (back) slated for third rehab start
Steven Matz, who is returning from a lower back strain, will throw 50 pitches for Double-A Springfield on Sunday.

Advice: It’ll be Matz’s third rehab start. He also pitched for Springfield on Tuesday, allowing five unearned runs in 1 2/3 innings. That one probably sounds worse than it was; he gave up three hits, walked one and struck out three. Rotoworld Thursday, 9:33 am

    • Impressively strikes out side
Robertson earned his 13th hold in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Dodgers. He struck out all three batters faced in the eighth inning.

Advice: The Rangers were nursing a 3-1 lead when Robertson entered to start the eighth, and the right-hander was impressive, striking out Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman (all swinging). The 39-year-old Robertson has a 3.30 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with 43 strikeouts over 30 innings as he continues to operate as the setup man to closer Kirby Yates. Rotowire.com Thursday, 5:40 am
    • Clubs homer in win
Adell went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Adell recently endured a 3-for-54 stretch over 17 games from May 21 to June 9. He's matched that number of hits over his last two games, going 3-for-8 as he starts to get his bat back on track in Arizona. The outfielder began the season in good form but fell off pace significantly in May, leaving him at a .198/.262/.441 slash line through 195 plate appearances. He's added 12 homers, 30 RBI, 27 runs scored and nine stolen bases this season, all of which are career highs for the 25-year-old. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:22 pm

    • Jo Adell blasts three-run homer on Wednesday
Jo Adell went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer and a walk against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Advice: Adell’s only hit of the game left the yard as he extended the Angels’ lead with a three-run homer off Slade Cecconi in the fourth inning. He later drew a walk in the ninth, ending his day hitting .198/.262/.441 with 12 homers, 30 RBI, and nine steals across 196 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:34 pm

    • Holds on for 10th save
Neris earned a save against Tampa Bay on Wednesday, allowing one run on two hits and a walk with no strikeouts.

Advice: Entering with a 4-2 lead in the ninth inning, Neris surrendered a solo home run to Jose Caballero and then allowed a single and a walk before retiring Yandy Diaz and Brandon Lowe to escape with the save. This wasn't the most encouraging outing after Neris yielded four runs in a blown save Tuesday night, but manager Craig Counsell showed his faith in Neris as the team's closer by relying on him again Wednesday. On the season, Neris is 10-for-13 in save chances with a 4.21 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 24:19 K:BB across 25.2 innings. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:39 pm

    • Héctor Neris gives up homer, earns save anyway
Héctor Neris picked up his 10th save despite giving up a solo homer in the ninth Wednesday against the Rays.

Advice: The Cubs got Neris right back in there after he gave up four runs in taking a blown save and a loss Tuesday, and he got the job done, though not before allowing a homer for the second straight night. He’s 10-for-13 saving games in spite of his 4.21 ERA and ugly 24/19 K/BB ratio. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:14 pm

    • Jesse Winker has two hits as Nationals top Tigers
Jesse Winker singled twice, drew a pair of walks, drove in a run and scored a run as the Nationals triumphed over the Tigers on Wednesday evening at Comerica Park.

Advice: The 30-year-old outfielder delivered an RBI single in the fifth inning that extended the Nationals’ lead to 4-1. He then scored on a throwing error by Carson Kelly as Luis Garcia stole second base. He has had a resurgent season in the middle of the Nationals’ lineup, hitting .262/.380/.393 with six homers, 30 RBI and 11 stolen bases. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:40 pm

    • Matt Vierling clubs solo homer in loss to Nats
Matt Vierling clubbed a solo home run on Wednesday night, but it wasn’t enough to power the Tigers to victory over the Nationals.

Advice: Vierling connected on a 363-foot (94.6 mph EV) solo shot to lead off the home half of the first inning for the Tigers. He finished the night 1-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts and is now hitting .268/.309/.468 with eight long balls and 27 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:40 pm

    • Getting day off amid slump
Rooker is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Advice: Rooker will cede designated hitter duties to JJ Bleday and get a breather for the series finale after he had started in each of the Athletics' last 14 games. During that stretch, Rooker slashed just .196/.281/.392 with a 40.4 percent strikeout rate, so the day off could prove beneficial while he's in the midst of a slump at the dish.
