Ryan (4-3) earned the win Monday against the Royals, allowing one run on four hits and no walks over seven innings. He struck out nine.

Advice: Ryan dominated the Royals, generating an impressive 15 whiffs en route to his nine punchouts. With Monday's effort, the 27-year-old righty collected his eighth quality start of the season. Overall, Ryan sports a 2.96 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 73:9 K:BB in 67 innings. He is tentatively scheduled to pitch against the Astros on the road in his next start. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:24 pm

    • Joe Ryan strikes out nine in win over Royals
Joe Ryan recorded nine strikeouts and allowed one run over seven innings on Monday in a win over the Royals.

Advice: Ryan authored yet another stellar performance on Monday afternoon at Target Field, carrying a shutout into the sixth inning before Kansas City finally broke through courtesy of a two-out RBI single from Vinnie Pasquantino. It was his highest single-start strikeout total since a 12-punchout performance back on April 13 against the Tigers as he induced 15 swinging strikes, including 11 on his fastball, and finished with a robust 33 percent CSW. He’s rapidly cementing his status as an upper-echelon fantasy contributor, having allowed three earned runs or fewer in 10 of his 11 starts at the outset of the season. He’ll bring a strong 2.96 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 73/9 K/BB ratio across 67 innings (11 starts) into a challenging road tilt on Saturday against the Astros. Rotoworld Monday, 1:38 pm

    • Light bullpen session on tap
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Monday that Matz (back) will throw a "light" bullpen session Wednesday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Matz began playing catch last week following a pair of pain-killing injections in his lower back and he's almost ready to starting throwing off a mound at low intensity. The left-hander still looks to be several weeks away from a potential return from the 15-day injured list. Rotowire.com Monday, 11:45 am

    • Scoreless streak ends in loss
Crochet (5-5) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out 11 over six innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Orioles.

Advice: Crochet was able to extend his scoreless streak to 24 innings, which began with his last two frames versus the Cardinals on May 5. It came to a close when Adley Rutschman took him deep in the sixth inning of Sunday's contest, and that was enough to snap Crochet's four-start winning streak as well. On the bright side, he earned a fifth straight quality start and reached double-digit strikeouts for the third time this year. Crochet is at a 3.68 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 85:14 K:BB through 63.2 innings over 12 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road versus the Brewers. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:12 pm

    • Garrett Crochet takes tough luck loss on Sunday
Garrett Crochet allowed two runs on three hits over six innings in a loss to the Orioles on Sunday.

Advice: Crochet struck out 11 and walked just one, but the two-run homer he allowed to Adley Rutschman in the sixth inning proved to be the difference in the game. The left-hander tied the Orioles up all day, getting 18 whiffs for a 38 percent whiff rate and 37 percent CSW. He now has a 3.68 ERA on the season with 85 strikeouts in 63 2/3 innings. Anybody who dropped him after his poor three-start stretch against the Twins, Phillies, and Reds in mid-April is probably kicking themselves now as Crochet has allowed just five total earned runs in six starts since then. You can feel free to start him in any matchup, including against the Brewers next week. Rotoworld Sunday, 3:45 pm

    • Sharp in Saturday's quality start
Fedde came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 5-3 loss to Baltimore, allowing three hits and three walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander baffled the O's over 103 pitches (64 strikes) and left the mound with the White Sox ahead 3-0, only to see Jordan Leasure and Michael Kopech serve up three homers between them in the eighth inning. Fedde has delivered three scoreless outings in his last four starts, giving him five quality starts on the season, and he sports a stunning 2.80 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 58:18 K:BB through 64.1 innings -- a far cry from the 5.41 ERA and 1.52 WHIP he compiled in 454.1 innings for the Nationals prior to spending 2023 in the KBO. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which lines up to come on the road next weekend in Milwaukee. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:47 am
    • Dazzles in return to rotation
Suarez came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 5-3 win over the White Sox, allowing two hits and two walks over four scoreless innings. He struck out three.

Advice: The 34-year-old right-hander hadn't pitched more than an inning in any of his last three appearances, including an 11-pitch outing Wednesday, but Suarez slid right back into the O's rotation without any issues. He tossed 50 of 80 pitches for strikes before exiting the mound, and with John Means (forearm) and Dean Kremer (triceps) on the shelf, Suarez figures to plug a hole in the rotation for at least a couple weeks. He'll take a 1.53 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 24:8 K:BB through 29.1 innings into his next turn, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the Rays. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:26 am

    • Albert Suárez tosses four scoreless vs. White Sox
Albert Suárez tossed four scoreless innings with three strikeouts in a no-decision against the White Sox on Saturday.

Advice: Suárez made his first start in a month after pitching out of the bullpen for a stretch. He scattered two hits and two walks over four scoreless innings on 80 pitches, striking out three batters. With John Means (forearm) and Dean Kremer (triceps) on the injured list, Suárez should get a chance to hold a rotation spot. He’ll take a 1.53 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and a 24/8 K/BB ratio across 29 1/3 innings into a start against the Rays in Baltimore on Friday. Rotoworld Saturday, 2:23 pm

    • Erick Fedde holds Orioles scoreless in no-decision
Erick Fedde tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings with six strikeouts in a no-decision against the Orioles on Saturday.

Advice: Fedde was excellent on Saturday, keeping a potent Orioles lineup off the board into the seventh inning. A walk and a base hit with one out would knock him from the game at 103 pitches. Jordan Leasure would come in to clean up the frame and strand the baserunners. Fedde scattered three total hits and three walks, striking out six. The 31-year-old right-hander has put himself in position to be a likely trade target over the summer, posting a 2.80 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and a 58/18 K/BB ratio across 64 1/3 innings. He’ll take on the Brewers in Milwaukee on Friday. Rotoworld Saturday, 2:22 pm
