    • Cleared for rehab assignment
Anderson (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Anderson will play for Jacksonville on Saturday and Sunday before being reevaluated. He is eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list Tuesday and it would appear he's in line to return at that time, assuming all goes well. Anderson has been battling lower-back tightness. • Bobby Witt Jr. plates both runs in loss to Mariners
Bobby Witt Jr. went 0-for-3 and drove in both of the Royals’ runs in Wednesday afternoon’s loss to the Mariners.

Advice: The 23-year-old superstar finally got the Royals on the board with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning, pulling them to within a run at 2-1. He also plated a run with a ground ball in the eighth inning. On the season, he’s now slashing .293/.359/.500 with five homers, 23 RBI and 15 stolen bases. Rotoworld Wednesday, 4:50 pm

    • Marlins place Anderson to IL due to back tightness
Marlins placed SS Tim Anderson on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 11m with lower back tightness.

Advice: Anderson has looked even worse this season than he did last year, and if winning mattered, the Marlins might be better off releasing him than giving him another chance after he’s ready to return. Vidal Bruján will see most of the time at shortstop, it appears, though he was already playing regularly since the Luis Arraez trade. Anderson’s at-bats will go to Tristan Gray and Otto Lopez. • Placed on IL with back injury
The Marlins placed Anderson on the 10-day injured list Monday with lower-back tightness.

Advice: Anderson had missed the previous two games with the injury and evidently didn't show enough progress to avoid a stint on the IL. Because the move is backdated to Saturday, Anderson will be eligible to return from the IL in just over a week. However, it's unclear whether he'll be ready to rejoin the Miami lineup by then. Vidal Brujan is expected to serve as the Marlins' everyday shortstop while Anderson is on the shelf. Rotowire.com Monday, 1:13 pm

    • Tim Anderson remains out on Monday
Tim Anderson (back) will miss his third straight game on Monday.

Advice: Anderson was scratched from Saturday’s game with a back injury and then has now missed both Sunday and Monday as well. Vidal Bruján will start at second base with Otto López starting his third straight game at second base. Anderson is hitting just .197/.234/.221 with zero homers and three steals in 128 plate appearances, so it’s possible the Marlins are using this as an opportunity to get a longer look at Bruján and López who are both younger hitters who have flashed in the minors and not yet had a chance to get every day playing time in the big leagues. • Held out again Monday
Anderson (back) remains out of the lineup for Monday's contest against the Tigers.

Advice: Anderson is battling lower-back tightness and will miss a third straight start. The Marlins haven't indicated that a stint on the injured list might be required for Anderson, but the odds certainly increase the more time he misses. Vidal Brujan will again handle shortstop in Anderson's place while Otto Lopez covers second base. Rotowire.com Monday, 12:31 pm

    • Tim Anderson remains out Sunday vs. Phillies
Tim Anderson (back) is not in the lineup for Sunday’s contest against the Phillies.

Advice: Anderson was scratched with tightness in his lower back Saturday. He’ll miss at least one more game with Vidal Bruján getting the start at shortstop. Rotoworld Sunday, 10:08 am

    • Out again Sunday
Anderson (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.

Advice: He'll be on the bench for a second straight game and remains day-to-day with lower-back tightness. Vidal Brujan will move over from second base to replace Anderson at shortstop. Rotowire.com Sunday, 9:47 am

    • Two hits, two stolen bases in loss
Witt went 2-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored and two stolen bases in Saturday's loss to the Angels.

Advice: Witt scored Kansas City's first run of the game after reaching on an infield single and stealing second, coming home on a double from Salvador Perez. The star shortstop would later drive in a run with another single in the sixth before stealing his second base of the contest, though he was then thrown out trying to steal third. Witt has now recorded multiple hits in five of 10 games this month. He's batting .314 over that stretch with four RBI, 12 runs and six stolen bases. Rotowire.com Sunday, 6:39 am
