He gave the Orioles a brief lead in the 11th inning of Wednesday's contest.       Santander went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 7-6 extra-innings win over the Nationals.

      Advice: Santander is hitting just .227 over seven games in May and batting .215 on the year, but he has a homer in two of his last three contests. The outfielder has added a .737 OPS through 35 games this season, though that's still a decent margin behind last year's .797 mark. Santander is up to six homers, 24 RBI, 18 runs scored, nine doubles, one triple and no steals through 147 plate appearances while holding down a starting role in right field.       Advice: Candelario moved across the diamond from third base to cover first for Christian Encarnacion-Strand (hand), who is expected to miss four-to-six weeks. Candelario is one of several Cincinnati bats off to a slow start; the three-hit night raised his season average to .206, just the second day it's been above .200.       Ryan Mountcastle slugged a two-run homer in the 11th inning on Wednesday night, helping to propel the Orioles to a wild 7-6 victory over the Nationals in 12 innings.

      Advice: With one out left to get in the ninth inning, the Orioles had a comfortable 3-1 lead, then insanity ensued. Neither team scored in the 10th inning, then Mountcastle clobbered a 386-foot (98.8 mph EV) two-run shot off of Hunter Harvey in the 11th that gave the O’s a two-run lead. The Nationals would answer in their half of the 11th. The O’s then pushed two runs across in the 12th and allowed just one to escape with a victory.
