      Scherzer (back/thumb) will return from the injured list and start against the Royals on Saturday, Jim Bowden of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Scherzer has been on the injured list all season while recovering from offseason back surgery and battling thumb/forearm injuries throughout his rehab process. However, after experiencing no issues following his latest rehab start at Triple-A Round Rock, the 39-year-old veteran has officially been given the green light to return to the Rangers' rotation. He posted a 4.91 ERA and 1.18 WHIP alongside a 17:3 K:BB through 11 innings during his assignment, and it's unclear if the right-hander will be working under any restrictions during his return to a big-league mound.       The Athletic’s Jim Bowden reports Max Scherzer (back, thumb) will make his season debut on Saturday against the Royals.

      Advice: It’s a soft landing spot for Scherzer, who is finally set to make his season debut after undergoing offseason back surgery and dealing with a nerve-related thumb issue during his rehabilitation process. The 39-year-old veteran isn’t the fantasy stalwart anymore from earlier in his career, but can still make an impact for fantasy managers on a per-start basis moving forward.     • David Hamilton out Tuesday with side soreness
      David Hamilton (side) is absent from the lineup for Tuesday’s showdown against the Blue Jays.

      Advice: Hamilton has rapidly emerged as a relevant fantasy contributor over the last few weeks, batting .323 (31-for-96) with three homers and 14 stolen bases over his last 30 contests. The 26-year-old speedster was removed from Monday’s game against Toronto with left side discomfort, but it doesn’t sound like he’s going to wind up requiring a trip to the injured list at the moment.       Murphy is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers.

      Advice: Murphy has struggled after missing the first two months of the season with an oblique injury, owning a .408 OPS and a 28.6 percent strikeout rate across 56 plate appearances with Atlanta.       Turang went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Monday in a loss to the Angels.

      Advice: Turang plated the final run of the contest with his 419-foot solo shot in the fifth inning. The second-year infielder has gone deep four times through 68 games this season after hitting six homers in 137 contests last year. Turang's skill set is more centered on speed than power, so anything fantasy managers get in the homer department is a nice bonus. The speedster has made a big impact on the rosters of fantasy managers who had the foresight to pick him up late in fantasy drafts or on the waiver wire, as he's slashing .291/.359/.406 on the season with 25 RBI, 35 runs and 26 stolen bases in 27 attempts.       Freeman went 1-for-1 with two runs and five walks in a 9-5 win against Colorado on Monday.

      Advice: Freeman's patience was on display in the victory, as he tied a Dodgers franchise record by drawing five free passes. The veteran isn't shy about taking walks -- his 14.6 percent walk rate on the campaign ranks eighth among qualified MLB hitters and is on pace for the highest mark of his career. Of course, Freeman is plenty capable when swinging the bat as well, as he's currently batting .302, putting him on pace for his fifth straight season hitting at least .300.       Ramos went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 7-6 win over the Cubs.

      Advice: Ramos has multiple hits in 10 of his 15 games in June, and he's also hit seven homers and driven in 18 runs this month. The 24-year-old has put it all together, going from fading prospect to a leader in the Giants' offense after seizing an everyday role in May.       Doval earned a save against the Cubs on Monday, striking out one batter in one perfect inning.

      Advice: San Francisco scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to take a one-run lead, and Doval entered in the bottom of the frame to try to slam the door on Chicago. He did so without much trouble, needing just 11 pitches to set down the side in order. The outing helped wash away the sour taste of Doval's outing one day earlier, when he allowed four runs over one-third of an inning in a non-save situation against the Angels.
