      Advice: Nimmo suffered the cut when he slipped and fell in his hotel room Sunday night in Washington, D.C.       The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal said “Tanner Scott is a popular name on the trade market” and “the Marlins are virtually certain to trade” him at the deadline.

      Advice: Rosenthal reported that “the Miami Marlins want a lot for their left-handed closer,” but they do expect to get it; however, it’s expected that Scott will not take over a closer’s role if he were traded to a contender. His strikeout-to-walk rate is at a career-low level and that command may keep him in a high-leverage shared role, facing mainly left-handed hitters.       Brandon Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a home run, double, walk, three RBI, and two runs scored on Sunday against the Astros.

      Advice: Nimmo’s two extra-base hits came at extremely clutch times for the Mets: his two-run homer, the 100th of his career, tied this game in the seventh and his RBI double again brought the Mets even in extra innings. His resurgence over the last few weeks has been a spectacle as he’s pulled his OPS up from .708 on June 13th to .815 today. He’s found a home in the two-hole of the Mets’ lineup and is on pace for 26 homers, 30 doubles, 106 runs scored, 100 RBI, and 10 stolen bases this season. That is the statline of a bona fide stud.       Advice: Suarez struggled mightily Sunday, allowing a season-high six runs. The left-hander pitched into the fifth inning and did not record a single strikeout, the first time in his career he has had zero strikeouts in a start. He faced 26 batters Sunday, making it the first time a Phillies pitcher has faced at least 26 batters in a game without recording a strikeout since 2017.     • Ranger Suárez hit hard by Marlins
      Ranger Suárez allowed nine hits and six earned runs in just 4 2/3 innings on Sunday against the Marlins. He walked two and didn’t record a strike out.

      Advice: This was undoubtedly Suárez’s worst outing of the season. It was the first time in his career he didn’t strike out a batter out in a game he started as the Marlins were all over him. He especially struggled commanding his sinker and fell behind far more often than he has throughout his strong season. This game doesn’t change anything for Suárez going forward, but it stands as a worthy reminder that Suárez’s effectiveness is deeply rooted in command and a pitcher’s command can be wonky game to game.
