    • Report: Tanner Scott could be next Marlin traded
      According to Buster Olney, sources told him that Tanner Scott is “the guy on their roster you’d look at” but Josh Bell could also interest teams as well.

      Advice: After the Marlins traded Luis Arraez this weekend, assuming a firesale would follow was only logical. Scott was electric as the closer for the Marlins last year, but has seen some control issues resurface this season. He has a 2.77 ERA and four saves, but he also has 14 walks in 13 innings. If he were to be traded, he would likely serve as a setup man, and the Marlins could turn back to A.J. Puk in the closer’s role which means Puk could be worth a speculative add in leagues.       Cortes did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk over 6.1 innings against the Tigers. He struck out nine.

      Advice: Cortes matched a season high with nine strikeouts, as he allowed only four baserunners in the contest. Cortes shut out the Tigers through six but was pulled with one out in the seventh after allowing two base hits in the inning. Both runners eventually came around to score, tying the game and ending Cortes' bid to earn his second win. It was the fourth quality start in eight games for Cortes, who lowered his ERA to 3.72 with a 1.03 WHIP and 46 strikeouts through 48.1 innings.       Nestor Cortes looked sharp in a no-decision against the Tigers on Sunday, giving up two runs on just three hits over 6 1/3 innings of work.

      Advice: The crafty 29-year-old southpaw piled up nine strikeouts on a rainy afternoon in the Bronx while allowing just one base on balls. He kept the Tigers off the board completely through the first six innings, but he allowed a pair of singles before departing in the seventh — and both runners came around to score against the Yankees’ bullpen. Cortes got 13 whiffs on 97 pitches on the day, registering a strong CSW of 33 percent. He’ll attempt to get back in the win column as he carries a 3.72 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 46/8 K/BB ratio (48 1/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Rays in Tampa Bay.       Advice: Valdez turned in his worst start of the campaign, as the five runs and nine hits he allowed were both season-worst marks while he recorded a season-low three punchouts. The left-hander also gave up his first two homers of the year, with Cal Raleigh's two-run shot in the sixth inning resulting in the hurler getting the hook. Since being activated from the injured list April 27 following a near month-long absence due to an elbow injury, Valdez has surrendered seven runs on 14 hits across 10.1 frames over two starts.       Advice: There was a rain delay before the game and more inclement weather during the contest, but Suarez seemed undaunted as he became the first six-game winner in baseball (Tyler Glasnow joined him later Saturday). It speaks to how well Suarez has pitched this season that this was easily his worst start since his first outing of the season when he allowed three runs in five innings. The three runs the left-hander gave up Saturday matched his total from his previous five starts. With a matchup versus the Marlins looming next week, Suarez has a good chance to keep rolling.       Advice: Valdez didn’t quite have as much success in his second outing back from the injured list as the division-rival Mariners tagged him for a pair of homers, which was more than enough run support for Logan Gilbert, who tossed eight shutout innings on the other side. The 30-year-old southpaw will carry a serviceable 3.97 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 19/7 K/BB ratio across 22 2/3 innings (four starts) into a road outing on Friday against the Tigers.       Ranger Suárez gave up three runs over six innings on Saturday in a win over the Giants.

      Advice: Suárez was staked to a commanding nine-run advantage by the start of the third inning at a rain-soaked Citizens Bank Park, and wound up cruising to a relatively easy victory, gobbling up six frames before handing an 11-run lead over to Philadelphia’s bullpen. The 28-year-old southpaw isn’t overpowering, but he’s been extremely effective this season, allowing three earned runs or fewer in seven consecutive starts. He’ll bring a sparkling 1.72 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 46/6 K/BB ratio across 47 innings (seven starts) into a road tilt next Saturday against the free-falling Marlins. Rotoworld Saturday, 8:15 pm

      Montgomery (1-2) took the loss against the Dodgers on Wednesday, allowing six runs on six hits and three walks over three innings while striking out one.

      Advice: It wasn't Montgomery's night as the lefty got pounded for five runs in the second inning after failing to retire six batters in a row, leading to his shortest outing of the campaign. He allowed a season-high two home runs in the contest and posted just one strikeout, giving him an 8:4 K:BB through his first three starts. Montgomery produced only three swinging strikes on the night and has yet to record more than four strikeouts in an outing, despite going six or more innings on two occasions.       Sale (4-1) picked up the win Wednesday in a 5-2 victory over the Mariners, allowing one run on six hits over five innings. He struck out nine without walking a batter.

      Advice: The veteran lefty wasn't exactly efficient, needing 100 pitches to record 15 outs, but Sale generated an eye-popping 21 swinging strikes in another dominant performance. The nine Ks were a season high, and Sale has given up three runs or less in five of his six starts to begin his Atlanta tenure. He'll take a 3.44 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 42:7 K:BB through 36.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up for a home start next week against the former club, the Red Sox.
