    • Triceps tightness keeps Senga from mound session
Kodai Senga did not throw his scheduled bullpen session Monday because of triceps tightness.

Advice: Senga isn’t being shut down; the Mets are still hoping to have him on the mound later this week. All of these little setbacks he’s having as he tries to return from a shoulder injury are very concerning, and it doesn’t really seem like he’s someone to count on at this point. Still, it’s not hopeless just yet. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago

    • Sent back to minors
Atlanta optioned Elder to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday.

Advice: Elder allowed seven runs (six earned) over three innings in a loss to the Padres on Sunday in his last outing. With a bloated 6.46 ERA during his time in the majors, Elder will head back to Gwinnett as he looks to get back on track. Darius Vines has been recalled and is a candidate to take Elder's rotation spot. Rotowire.com 29 minutes ago

    • Bryce Elder sent to Triple-A following Sunday loss
Braves optioned RHP Bryce Elder to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Advice: Elder was roughed up by the Padres on Sunday, leaving him 1-2 with a 6.46 ERA in five starts for the Braves. Because of today’s doubleheader, the team is going to need six starters this week, making it a little surprising that Elder is going now. Still, the Braves valued having a fresh arm available tonight. Rotoworld 37 minutes ago

    • Dylan Cease tagged for five runs by Braves
Dylan Cease lasted only four innings against the Braves in the first game of Monday’s doubleheader, giving up five runs in a no-decision.

Advice: Cease came into this one having given up four runs, nine hits and three walks in three starts this month. Today, he allowed five runs, nine hits and three walks in four innings. He also surrendered his fourth and fifth homers of the year. Chalk it up to a bad day against a talented lineup. The Padres wound up letting him off the hook in the eighth, so he remains 5-3 with a 3.05 ERA. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago

    • Reynaldo López watches bullpen blow game in eighth
Reynaldo López yielded two runs in 6 1/3 innings versus the Padres to take a no-decision in the first game of Monday’s doubleheader.

Advice: López exited with a 5-1 lead in the seventh before one of his two inherited runners scored. That wasn’t bad, but then the Padres went on to score four runs off Joe Jiménez in the eighth to win the game. López still hasn’t allowed more than three runs in any start this season, but with the Braves not scoring like they did last year, his record stands at 2-1 after eight turns. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago

    • Dealing with triceps tightness
Senga did not throw a scheduled bullpen session Sunday due to right triceps tightness, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Senga had seemingly been making good progress recently as he works his way back from a right posterior shoulder capsule strain, but he's now encountered another speed bump. The hope is that he'll be ready to throw off the mound later this week, but certainly the Mets will wait until the right-hander is pain-free before he resumes a throwing program. • Expected to miss 2-to-4 weeks
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Monday that he expects Eflin (back) to be sidelined for 2-to-4 week, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Eflin landed on the 15-day injured list Monday with a lower-back injury which he felt crop up toward the end of his last start. The right-hander said it feels similar to an injury which cost him two weeks last season. While the hope is that the absence will be similar in length this time around, his manager has allowed for the possibility for it to be a bit longer. Rotowire.com Today, 1:13 pm

    • Royals designate Matt Sauer for assignment
Royals designated RHP Matt Sauer for assignment

Advice: Sauer had allowed 14 runs on 23 hits in 16 1/3 innings with nine strikeouts and 11 walks. The 25-year-old will hope to latch on with another organization. Rotoworld Today, 1:03 pm

    • Facing hitters Tuesday
Cole (elbow) will face hitters Tuesday, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

Advice: Cole has been throwing off a mound for a couple weeks and is now ready to face hitters for the first time since he was diagnosed with nerve irritation and edema in his right elbow back in mid-March. A rehab assignment shouldn't be too far down the road, although there's been no date revealed for that yet. Cole is still several weeks away from his season debut. Rotowire.com Today, 12:58 pm
